Buschur Exhuast testing - + 23 WHP (dyno sheet and Video!)

My ongoing saga of testing the Buschur full 3" V band Bullet Muffler exhuast has reached perhaps its final conclusion

Yesterday, I good customer came with his brother who had just purchased a IX SE with what he claimed was a "Buschur Stage 4" package

It is really amazing to me to see all the people out there who think that have a "Buschur" Stage "X" who in fact dontr even have Buschur parts !

In this case the customer had the Br Intake, upper and lower fmic pipe, mini battery kit and some Greddy exhuast

After I spent some time with the car on the dyno I soon discovered that something was wrong and I suspected a boost leak as the power was very weak for a "Buschur equiped car"

After I took a break, I was walking back up to the dyno and happened to notice the exhuast tip did not look like a Buschur exhuast - in fact it was a Greddy unit with a giant S bend at the muffler - a extra resonator and a neck down at the cat.

I Offered tro the customer a FREE Buschur Exhuast comparison and we proceeded to put on the BR exhuast and re - dyno the car with the same tune - dyno settings and boost levels

Here is the amazing results

Sadly, my Buschur testing is now at a temp conclusion as these customers were so happy that they demanded to buy the Buschur testing unit and left with it

Here is a video of some of the testing

The moral to the story - and the other tests I have done is that a claimed 3" exhuast is not necesarily equal or the same as other 3" exhuasts

The design and configuration of the exhuast design can have a huge impact on performace and weight

Buschur Racing exhuasts are the best performing and lightest I have found and are one of the only units made in the USA that I know of

Thanks

Ahhh....another reason why i'm glad i got the v-band exhaust for my MR.

honda-guy Mar 14, 2007 10:02 AM

wow, that's about 20 hp increase. that Greddy exhaust must have been very restrictive.

Still on this exhaust thing huh. How long has it been now?

Thank god I got the buschur exhaust system too.

What difference does it make to you ?

I am doing this for the benefit of my customers so that can spend their money wisely on parts and have a positive experience when they come to get a dyno tune

Obviously the word has not reached all the evo owners as I am still getting cars in every day to be tuned which have very poorly designed exhuasts

It seems that the internet parts whoring outfits are pushing the idea to customers that "any 3" exhuast will make the same power"

I believe my testing has shown that this is not true

HAHA! Dynoflash is still preying on the ignorant. There are so many variables that can be skewed during these "tests" that I will not buy into the results...and most logical people I know, agree.

Al what downpipe was on the car before this? Stock? you never mentioned what downpipe it has

hopper Mar 14, 2007 10:38 AM

^ Im under the impression that the Greddy catback was replaced with a buschur turbo back. Thats all I can come up with.

The down pipe was a 3" down pipe - I assume also greedy

To be even more clear

a claimed T/B 3" exhuast made by greddy was removed and replaced by the Buschur T/B V band system

OK I SAW THE VID AND SAW A TEST PIPE, but no downpipe in the vid? what downpipe was on it? I find it very hard to believe that the greddy SP2 was robbing power at this power level. Gil's evo mr from CT is making 533whp on pump/meth on a stock motor on a ams 35r kit with a reflash on greddy evo 2 catback and the wastegate is recirculated.

I have greddy evo 2 on my car and I have no problems. I'd like to know what correction factor you guys use at the Shop up there as well
