New HTA 35R testing finally done and in....
 

Some of you may know that FP developed a new compressor wheel for the GT35R. This new HTA wheel is HOT! We tested it a few months ago but there was some fairly severe compressor surge and Robert nor myself were happy with it. I sent the turbo out to be fitted with a new compressor housing.

I have the turbo back and on the car. I made some changes to my car while I was doing this all related to the turbo.

I put a header on the car, new turbine housing, 02 housing, re-plumbed the wastegate and then of course put the HTA turbo on.

The car before at about 37 psi was making 590 whp.

First pull today with the header/turbine housing, 02 housing change at the same 37 psi the car made 610 on the first pull.

It would appear from this that there is some power to be gained over the cast manifold BUT don't forget we changed turbine housings and 02 housings too, so I personally feel most of the power was from that. The turbine housing I am using now flows substantially more than the original.

Anyway, since just about everytime Curt Brown came here for me to tune his car he would end up making the most power I use him to gauge many cars.

Below is the two cars, mine VS. Curt's. Same peak power but you will note that there is a large gain in the mid range power with the HTA turbo.

Curt's car ran 153 mph with the graph printed here. I am hoping my car will be 150 mph capable too, that is my goal for the year.

Run #1 is Curt. Run #2 is my car today after I was done tuning and such. Both cars hit a peak boost of 40 psi. I am running only C16 in my car, no alky at all. I am also running 1,000 cc injectors (as was Curt). My AFR's right now are in the 11.7:1 range. I am also still running the ported stock intake manifold and our 65 mm throttle body.

Wow David, I like how the new HTA 35R just keeps making power all the way until redline! Looks for sure to be a strong turbo!!! If you made the changed turbine housings and 02 housings and put the old 35R on it would the power difference be a lot smaller? Any ideas if the HTA 37R will be available? And take your car to the track already!!! Go get some candy!:lol:

Hrm, I was hoping to see more info w/ the same turbine housing/cast manifold setup as last time. Your new setup sounds nice though! With your old setup (cast manifold et all) and this new turbo, do you expect the results to be any different from the graph you originally posted comparing it next to a std 35r?

Very interesting, so it looks like about a 50-80whp difference between this new turbo and the 3065 with the 3065 spooling sooner. But with the 35r being able to handle more boost. So lb for ld the 35r nudges ahead.

man, I need a built motor and EMS now!
