Picked up this lil guy on ebay for $80 shipped. Wanted your guys opinions on it. I am planning on installing it tomrrow along with a 3" downpipe. After reading all these threads about boost creep and wastegate hole sizes, im a little concerned. The wastegate hole size measures 1 3/8 -1 1/2". (32-35mm) Am i in the clear? Or should i take a dremel to it before i install?
BTW this is going on a IX, stock turbo.

its the tiny wastegate one... but youre ok. i have it too. no creep at all at 22psi in 5th. however... the minimun i can run is 14.5psi. i cannot run wastegate 11psi anymore... it just wont do it with that o2 housing(valet mode)

you should dremel that. mine looked just like this, and i had creep issues. i remedied this with by wastegate adjustments and now my boost levels are rock solid with less then 1 psi. if i had to do it all over again, i would dremel like you.

thats the POS one i believe

Is the hole coming in from the wastegate side or the turbine? Sorry I can't tell from your pic, although it looks like its from the turbine side. If it is the wastegate side merging into the the main flow dremel it ... if it is the turbine side that is restricted then you should be fine.

+1 on opening that up a little more. Looks like mine before I enlarged it.
Hey ... it couldn't hurt. Just don't get too carried away.

ChuckP May 21, 2007 11:38 AM

Hmm, how big should the hole be to eliminate boost creep? Looks like i will be porting mine today.

I have the same one. No creep. That is the good Ebay 02 housing, Edge Motorsports makes it.

Yeah i was pretty sure it was the good housing. Edge racing makes it. Sold by Ezplus. Im guessing you skipped the porting? Im just going to install it tomrrow morning, and be done with it. Thanks bro.

Soon2BEVO May 21, 2007 02:39 PM

Yes, I didnt port anything. I also bought from EZPlus.

i would be more worried about the welds and the material thickness. It looks a little bit on the cheap side.

Liqquid May 21, 2007 06:34 PM

That's the one I have, I only get boost creep when its really really cold outside

VRSF Tiago May 21, 2007 07:17 PM

Thats one of the good ones floating around on ebay. The ****ty ones are the ones that look similar to that "HKS elbow" posted above. The wastegate hole is small but at least they got the bends/forming of the pipe correct.

ChuckP May 21, 2007 08:22 PM

Good to know, thanks for the responses. I will be installing this piece along with my TTP downpipe tomrrow. Then off to Speed Element...
