Ebay O2 Boost Creep Fix!
Ebay O2 Boost Creep Fix!
If you are one of the unlucky few, such as myself, that ended up with an Ebay O2 that has boost creep issues. There is an relatively easy fix that will get rid of the boost creep issue. Funny thing is I even bought the "good" quality SSAutochrome/XS Power Ebay O2 housing. As some of you know boost creep is a mechanical issue that can not be fixed by tuning.
To fix the issue my friend solomrus used a grinder and ported the opening from the wastegate side to the main exhaust flow in the O2. We made the opening more than twice as large. Took about 1hr + with the grinder. Put everything back in and viola! no boost creep.
The ECU takes some time to adjust and initially you will get a little flutter of boost in the higher gears after it spikes but boost eventually settles back to 1.1 bar (using the stock boost solenoid ofcourse).
So those of you that got the "bad" Ebay O2, don't throw them away just port the opening. I had gone through the trouble of coating my Ebay O2 with Jethot Coat 2000 and didn't want to simply get rid of it ... I know this has been briefly mentioned in some threads with varying results. Therefore I thought I would share my experiences.

Im curious as to how big the wastegate hole should be. I got a good ebay 02 sitting in my room, and the hole measures about 35mm. Im guessing this is big enough, any comments on this?
I got boost creep on mine also but only when it is cold outside. now in the summer I do not have the problem, I hit 24psi and all is good, but this winter when it gets cold mine is def. going to get ported.
Thanks to all you guys who posted about this problem. After seeing some of these posts, first thing I did when
I got my O2 was grab a file and enlarge the opening between the 2 sides about 10 %.
Here is a handy tip... a golf ball is 43mm in diameter. If you can drop one in the top of your O2 (the WG side) and it comes out
the bottom, the opening is big enough.

I believe mine was only about 32mm in diameter (tiny), port it and make it larger in diameter. In this case, it is better to go for overkill, as after a certain point you want the wastegate opening/flapper itself to be the restriction. Boost creep happens when the wastegate/wastegate passage itself is unable to flow the excess gasses and they are forced to go out of the turbine, thereby producing more boost.
Those of you with boost creep issues start porting ... bigger is better in this case.
