Evo 9 Spark Plug List, Also how to read plugs.

ITS RECOMMEND FOR EVERY 100HP OVER STOCK, 1 STEP COLDER

Here is a list I compiled from a few post:

NGK:
LFR7AIX - Stock Heat Range ($8.00 each sparkplugs.com), For those with local advance autos ($12.99 each)
ILFR7H - Factory Plug ($11.71 each sparkplugs.com), For those with local advance autos ($18.99 each)
R7437-8 - 1 Step Colder Racing plug ($41.52 each sparkplugs.com)

Denso:
IKH22 - Stock Heat Range ($11.95 each sparkplugs.com)
IKH24 - 1 Step Colder ($11.95 each sparkplugs.com)
IKH27 - 2 Steps Colder

Stock/Lightly modded cars I would use stock heat range.
Full Bolt-on/Swaped Turbo cars I would recommend colder plugs.

lol you must have got tired of people asking :)

I'm running the IKH24 and they work perfect.

Dont forget Buschur sells NGK std. plugs for the IX, dunno what part # or where they got them because NGK doesnt even know about them.

But I talked to a guy who runs them and said the are NGK, they are non-iridium and they are the correct length.

I think they are like $25.00 for a set or something like that?

I asked for a part number but they wouldn't give it to me.....but I know of 2 people (myself included) who contacted NGK direct and they had no clue what I was talking about. So figure that one out?

Just wanted to make finding the information alot easier. It took me 40 mins to dig through all the crap.

Im at the point of need plugs now.
Stock Evo Plugs +18500 miles + GT30R = no power

Don't forget these plugs. They are copper core. So you will have to change them more often. For the price I don't mind changing them with every oil change.

NGK BPR7ES - Stock heat range. $2.24 each Sparkplugs.com
NGK BPR8ES - 1 step colder. $2.24 each Sparkplugs.com

From what I have read people gap these plugs at .026

THOSE PLUGS WILL NOT WORK!! THOSE ARE FOR EVO 8 ONLY. EVO 9s HAVE A LONGER REACH.

Those plugs you listed have a 19.05mm reach vs needing a 26.5mm reach.

SO I WILL REPEAT, DO NOT USE THOSE IN YOUR MOTOR!!!

People are giving out wrong info then. Damn good thing I never bought them.

Yes, thats the purpose of this post, to post FACTUAL Information!

fil78 Jan 31, 2008 10:54 AM

you can also use HKS S40IL (1 step colder than OEM).
they look the same as the Denso IKH24 - so I guess they are Denso plugs

I also find a racing version of the IKH24 named IKH01-24 but I've never tested it.

bigric09 Jan 31, 2008 10:59 AM

IKH27 is 2 steps colder if you want to add those to your list as well.

Thank you for compiling all the info... this may stop me from answering 2 or 3 PM's per week :)

Are you sure about the stock gap ? i could have sworn it was .024

evolved83 Jan 31, 2008 11:38 AM
