An interesting dyno comparison of two EVO's
My car is on the dyno this morning. Probably will be all week long actually, I am doing some testing to see where I can find another 30 whp or so to drop the car into the 8's. I am speaking of my RS that just went 9.11 at 155 mph.
The car was fresh off the track last week so I wanted to get a baseline pull of where the hp was just like I ran it, no changes. I knew the boost was up higher than I had been dyno'ing it and wanted to know exactly what it had for power at 40 psi. I loaded the car, did two pulls, they were identical, marked my logs and was going to move on. I then got curious how my power curve stacked up against the our black drag EVO. It is quite interesting. Below you will find the dyno results from the two cars. The RS is equipped with a "35r" in a .82 T3 turbine housing. Same exact engines in both cars, same head. The black car is using a few other parts to increase the top end and usable RPM because of the GT42r we had on the car. There are some other small differences but the dyno sheet is what is most interesting. The black car is equipped with an HTA88/Ptrim with a T4 divided twin scroll header/turbine housing, .84 a/r. My RS made 648 whp/511 ft lbs of torque at 41 psi. The black car made 665 whp/458 ft lbs of torque at somewhere around 46 psi, I can't find the log. For reference both cars, when shifted at 9,000 rpm fall to about 7,000 rpm after the shift. So for drag racing the usable range on both cars are from 7,000-9,000 rpm, give or take a little. With this turbo combination on the black car the car ran a best of 8.96 at 166 mph. Here is the dyno sheet comparing the two: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...dragRScomp.jpg The power up top is very-very close. The low to mid range power is stupid different. Look at 5400 rpm, the power difference is about 250 whp and the torque is about 230 ft lbs. Crazy stuff. |
wow, and after each shift the RS barely gives up HP/TQ to the black car all the way back up to 9K. The overall curve though for the RS is outstanding for 5psi less of boost too, definitely worth giving up that slight bit up top. The FS635 turbo is a beast...can't wait to get mine on. Thanks for the comparo Dave.

wow that is surprising...it's clear which one is going to have a better fun factor.
so much for twin scroll being magical but I'm sure the turbo/cam difference plays a role as well. |
so have you came up with any new ideas or thoughts to extract some more power from your RS?

^^^ less typing, more ordering Boost3dxEvO!

The FS635 is lookin very promising

why do you think the black car is so much lower in power compared to the 35r, it seems to me that with the bigger turbo and 5 more psi that the black car should be making more than it is.
maybe the hta 35r is just that good :) |
awesome, just awesome..
theres the weight difference right there david. 155vs166. 11mph. If the rs was mine and i had your money I'd buy some badass aftermarket seats for the front to shed some weight. And pull the rears just for a couple passes. |

A very cool comparison. In terms of power delivery the RS seems to be ahead of the curve, or is it more area under the curve!

Just shows how well the fs635 is actually working.. I dont need any scientific data to figure out which turbo is working best.. The track times speak for themselves.. Thanks for the info dave!!

Nice post Dave thank you.
Is the header divided on the black car? What is the conclusion you've reached based on this comparison? And is it safe to say the FS635 gives up about 500 rpm to the HTA 35R? |
I need the info on this turbo now !!!
