The perfect transmission oil
In my quest to find the perfect transmission oil I have tried the following....
Mitsu Diaqueen BG syncromesh Penzoil syncromesh Royal Purple 75w90 AmsOil 75w90 gl4 With great success I am proud to announce that AmsOil is the absolute best. Shifting is buttery smooth. The tranny whines less. This stuff is phenominal. Best part is there is no mixing required like Redline mt90 with HD shockproof. The only draw back is AmsOil has to be orderd online. It is super easy to do and shipping is fast. Only took 2 days for me to get it. I am sure it would have been less but I orderd late on a sunday. Trust me this stuff is the BEST ! !{thumbup} Paul |
Amsoil is what i'll be gettin for my clutch change...i thought with the 5 speed transmissions you use Amsoil 75w90 mtg and the gl4 was for the 6 speeds?
|
I dont have to order it online, my local carquest parts store carries it and BTW its the Amsoil 75w90 MTG not the heavy duty for the tranny... as per OilDoc...
|
the NAPA here by my place sells it.
|
Great to hear, I'm just about to drop this in my driveline!
|
I PM'd Oildoc but got no reply. I would like some AMSoil for my tranny...
|
Amsoil FTW drain out about 8oz and add some prolong to if you think it shifts smooth now try that with the prolong transmission treatment.
|
NEO synthetic..You must try it..

I ordered from OilDoc the MTG for the tranny and SVG for the TC late Monday and UPS delivered it on Wedsnday. Super quick shipping. I'll be installing it this weekend.

I put some of that transmission lube for my Exedy Twin install 2 weeks ago and I love it! |
WOW a lot of responses to fast. Those of you stating about the MGT for the tranny and SVG for the diffs....that is the way to go. This stuff is awesome.

I still like OEM Diaqueen in my 6-speed. I run the Amsoil in the 240 though and it shifts OK.

IIRC, boostedwrx may be the only person I've heard of who doesn't like it. Perhaps his 6-speed unit was shimmed a little different from the factory than mine was? Oil Doc was wondering if the SynTorq was GL-4. I took a look at the lable on the drum last night, and it is (I thought it was, I just couldn't remember off-hand). |
Redline cocktail is the best you can do you your 5-speed Evo tranny IMO (mix 2 quarts of MT-90 and 1 quart MTL).
|
i did my whole driveline with amsoil and its awesome!!! thanks to oildoc
