Precision Turbo 6262 daily driver???

looking for a daily driver that makes 500hp to 550hp without too much lag. would this 6262 turbo do this. this is what i am thinking about

I have a evo IX

93 octane
Precision turbo 6262
DNP Tubular Header
nisei FMIC with pipe kit
280 cams
850cc injectors
Walbro 255L/HR Fuel Pump
upgraded Fuel Rail not sure which one yet
Fuel Pressure Regulator
HKS F-CON V Pro version 3.3 EMS
stock intake manifold
stock motor
Tial wastegate & blow off
car already has custom 3" exhaust

if there is anything i have missed in trying to make my goal of 500 to 550hp please feel free to reply or if there would be something to change or add please let me know

Ya I may know some people that have this on their car and maybe a few more, they all seem to love it.

The 6262 Will spool around 5000-5300RPM in a 3rd gear pull.

If you just need 500WHP consider a 57Trim Turbo, 30R, or Red, all of which will spool 4000-4700rpm

Go 6262 the lag is waaay over rated IMO

staatz Jan 22, 2009 12:21 PM

pretty sure those 850s wont be enough for 93 oct and 500hp.. I would do ATLEAST 1000cc's

My tuner is running it and LOVES the turbo.

go with a 30r with meth itd be a hell of a daily driver

Go with the HTA86....this is what i am going with because after riding in a car with this turbo, i had to come home and rub one off cause it was awesome. LAG IS OVERRATED. 6262 is also a great turbo....a bunch of ETS, AWD built cars are doing great with this turbo.

the lag is not too bad , when the power kicks in it will make up for it

andreww238 Jan 22, 2009 06:54 PM

I agree with staatz.. bigger injectors will most liekly be needed to safely run that power level.. the 6262 is fine for a daily.. no problems

I love the 6262 turbo even to drive around town.. Lag isnt bad but of course its no FP red. its a t3..

The turbo i will be testing that looks to be the badass for t3s on the street is the Precision 5757.. Billet wheel and nasty spool up!!

Ignorance is bliss I guess. "lag is over rated" really riles my up. In reality lag is the most devastating thing to an enjoyable street car set up. Those who say lag is tolerable have not the experience of driving the same power level without the lag.

My advice would be you should always choose the smallest turbo to support your power goals. a 6262 is but fuuk laggy for a 500-550 whp setup. A red turbo would be 100 times more fun with 1000rpm faster spool. You will have to run a meth kit to get it there. But it is easily capable of 525whp.

You also seem to have gold taste with silver budget. It is not wise to make 525whp on the stock block. just wont last very long. 450whp is a smart recommendation for maximum safe power on stock internals. Sure there will be those who have run 550+ on stock internals with some good success. But for every one of those there are ten who have blown their engine trying.

you dont need fuel rail upgrade. complete waste. regulator not needed either. better to spend money elsewhere. the DNP manifold is also hurting you. there is torque loss with that manifold with no significant HP gain.

Ive gotta agree with you. I dont terribly mind lag, BUT there is no sense in having lag if youre not going use the real potential of the turbo. No sense in buying a 40R if you use 550whp on the street, no sense in buying a Red if youre making 350whp on the street. What I do is find a power level youre comfortable running on the street 80%+ of the time and find the turbo that offers the best matches that.

When i say that lag is over rated in talking in reference to the op's question about the 6262. I run one daily driven(82a/r) and after 4500 its all hell. I dont see why that should be an issue, if racing from a roll you will be high enough in the revs where lag wont be an issue. When at the track 2 step allows you to launch in boost. I drive the car everywhere and full boost is a downshift away.

To the op get the 6262 the lag IS overated. (on this turbo)
