Should I recirculate HKS SSQV if it doesn't stall when VTA????

I have a 2005 EVO VIII with HKS SSQV BOV. It throws the air to the atmosphere. Everything works fine, I have no stalling. Should I change it to recirculate??? What might happened if I won't change it???

recirculate! its best for your car and your car will drive much better!!!

dambikeracer Jun 18, 2009 08:29 PM

Untill you go AEM EMS with no MAF

Fast_Freddie Jun 18, 2009 10:01 PM

Your gas mileage will suck... I had the HKS and had it VTA for 2 years on an 05 with no major issues, just poor gas mileage and sub-par driveablility...

What's your definition of "fine"?

You obviously do not have a wide band in the car, if you did... you would watch it crawl around at 9 or 10-1 A/F for 5-10 seconds at every stop light. And every time you coast to a stop after letting off of the throttle.

Unless you are blow through or speed density, driveability will be improved if you recirculate the valve.

i think my stock ix dv is starting to leak, whats would be the best replacement?

something that holds a lil more boost with no driveability issue's?

also if i flip the dv backwards it want leak at all right?? just want to see if it is the dv thats leaking!

Flipping it backwards causes leaks. Get a forge dv.

APS or Synapse, both are recirculating type like OEM and can handle much higher than 25/26 psi where the stocker starts to leak

I had the HKS and it too was "Fine". No, reallly it felt "fine".

How ever when accelerating part throttle with boost it will open partially, it will make the car dangerous if you take fast corners as it will loose power and traction.
Oh two more things, over time it will leak more.
When I switched to a diferent bov and recirculated I gained about 3 mpg overall, and 5 mpg on 20 minute commute, because when cold on short trips it really really wastes fuel).
In my case I have the HKS pipe and had to make a kit to it from HKS base to a universal hose.
just my 2 cents.

Fast_Freddie Jun 19, 2009 08:43 AM

^ that is why I switched to a synapse... you can buy the HKS flange along with the BOV, so you just pop off the old HKS and pop on the Synapse...

i was asking cause i just started to have a boost leak and i know for sure its not the intercooler piping so i started to think it might be the dv? the car only hold about 15psi no more then that

can the stock dv just go bad like that?

thanks guys
