Never done it on an Evo but for most cars it is pretty straight forward.

Drain fuel from tank
Disconnect fuel lines
Remove straps holding tank in place
Remove tank

Obviously there may be a few clips and things to remove that are not on that short list, but take your time and you will be fine. It is a pretty standard procedure.

You have to remove the differential support member and drop the front of the differential. Then the tank comes out towards the front. This, after unhooking a bunch of stuff.

how difficult is it to remove that

Sorry to bump an old thread but I'm in a situation where I need to drop the tank and clean it as rust has come back to haunt me after filling the tank for the 1st time in 4 years.

Is there anyone who has some decent details on what needs to be unhooked/unbolted to get it out?

I'm scared now....

Lol. It looks to mainly be a bunch of hose/wire connections. There should not be too many bolts. I have not attempted this though...

It sounds like you are getting closer to getting her running. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help (short of doing anything...J/K).

I've put about 130 miles on it in the last week and it's making good power but when I filled up the tank the other day, it immediately started running rough so I pulled the pump and found light brown gas....again.
