If you had to use one, use the HKS. The BC cams are just complete crap, and the HKS are not AS crappy, but still crap. I'm not sure what kind of evo or engine you're using, but the GSC S2, FP4R's and 5R's, and kelfords seem to be the ones making power.

GSC S1's or GSC S2's

Of the cams you have the HKS's are what I would use.

I wouldnt say the HKS are crap, theyre just mild cams. From what Ive read/heard the BC cams are crap!

GSC S2, FP4R's, and kelfords <these are where its @...
When I get cams, it'll be S2's for me...

Try this combo 272i/280e

.

272/280 is the same as the cosworth M3's and that's put down good power

What are the rest of your mods? What kind of turbo? Motor Setup? Any head work? These are all important things that need to be considered when choosing a cam that will work best with your setup.

A 280 cam doesn't mean more power over a 272.. If you're building a pure drag car then I'd say, FP5R/Tomei 280 or perhaps a custom grind cam that's made specifically for big top end power gains.

Since you're wanting something streetable, you don't want to sacrifice all of your low and midrange power just for a few extra horsepower up top.. Probably something equivalent to a 272 duration cam would work best but again the type of 272 cam you choose should be based on the criteria I mentioned above.

There's no PERFECT cam but there are several cams that perform better in certain areas than others and the ones that make a lot of power generally require valvetrain upgrades, especially if you plan on revving higher than 7800-8000rpm.

For my setup, I did a lot of research, and the best cam that I could find for a street driven, fully built, 35R evo were the BF272 cams. They seem to be performing much better down low than the Kelfords while still making more top end than either Kelford 272 or 280. However, these cams are to be used with built motor, big turbo setups, and require upgrading springs and retainers. But, I want something that performs well on the street rather than just making gobs of useless topend power on the dyno.

If you wanted to use only the cams you have then I would do the HKS 272/280s. I tried this combo and this is what we found... The 272/272 vs. 272/280 combo was worth 11hp peak and 16hp at 7500.

However, I would invest in a better cam. The HKSs are just not what they should be!!! The GSC S2s would produce a good 30+hp over the HKS cams and you won't lose any down low power or spool.

Here is a comparison of my HKS 272/280 vs. Custom Race GSC Cams. As you can tell I didn't lose any spool and these cams are HUGE! GSC Engineering FTW :D However you can't run the cams I have unless you have a built motor but I would look into the S2s for your car. You will love them!!!

This should have answered all your questions on what cam combo to run. *** If you have BC cams don't even put them in your car. They work better as a nice paper weight on your desk at work ***
