Quaife differential purchase

I did a search on the threads and found that quaife isnt making a differential for our cars...unless we do a group buy....count me in...if anyone wants to organize this

I know we need this for the front..how about the transfer case and the rear?

superz Jan 6, 2004 09:59 PM

no need for the rear . The front will be available from Mitsu via the new RS. The center diff is questionable although the stock one seems more than adequate unless you're rallying or drag racing were you may want a constant 50/50 split.

The new RS is Helical though isnt it?

i heard quaiffe was going to make the diff for our car come april.but i guess u are saying that it is now a group buy only?i tried e mail 2 times and they failed to respond.i was reading on magnus motorsports site that he dislikes the helical type gear as opposed to the clutch type.he seems to tend to lean towards the kazz differentials.check out his home page and let me know what u think.

They probably just need enough orders to justify the engineering and fabrication costs. Once they have that done, then anyone should be able to buy one. Right?

I heard we will need to buy 20-25 units for them to do a run...if thats the case, Im in...

If we only need one (front) Im sure we can find 25 people on this forum who will want it...

superz Jan 7, 2004 07:20 AM

what do you guys think the Quaife lsd is? Its a helical LSD. I would consider getting a RS t/case.

Pesto360 Jan 7, 2004 07:23 AM

but can the RS T/case handle 600 hp?

evomind Jan 7, 2004 07:49 AM

hi guys....im new here.
im not sure handling 600 hp is that important....wont the transfer case blow long before that??
granted, if im buying a new part i would rather buy the stronger of the 2.

I went through this with the R back in the day... people start spouting their preference for this vs. that, clutch type is better than helical, etc, etc. Well think about this, the Quaife lsd has a lifetime warranty... INCLUDING RACING!!! The kicker was that they were not being broken though. I remember one or two total that let go, which were found to have not been shimmed correctly prior to Quaife looking at them. Show me another company who warranties their products, including racing, in the import market.

It's not helical, it's a gear driven automatic torque biasing differential. Quaife puts the power to the wheel with most tractions.
Here is the link to their page.

Alex...

It is a helical, that's just their name for it :)

Looks helical to me.

From the above website:

Iwould be interested in a center with a 40/60r (35/65r etc.) torque split. That would make a huge handling difference on any surface...

Do you have a quesstimate on price? I am getting sick of spinning that inside front tire coming out of tight corners.
