Need help. Installing clutch. Fork position???
 

I just put in a exedy twin by myself with help in the garage. Almost everything is installed back on the car, and I'm at the point to install the clutch slave cylinder, and noticed that the clutch fork is all the way forward ( towards the engine), so the slave cyl piston wouldn't be able to push on it more towards the engine. The throw out bearing is hooked to the spring, because when I pushed it forward the first time it clicked, and also I can see that it is hooked correctly through the bottom hole in the trans.
Is this normal during the install, and Does it go into position on its own? It just doesn't make sense to me why the fork head is all the way fwd in its little opening, and not sitting somewhere in the middle.
I would hate to have to take it apart again.

I figured it out. It was fine once I installed the slave cyl.

Just out of curiosity. About how long did it take you? I have to tackle this project soon as well.

^ Be prepared to spend a good whole day while tackling this your first time. Having some friends over to help, definitely makes job easier. The transmission is light but not light benchpress (some have but i dont recommend that lol) or anything like that. Tranny jack helps positioning the transmission during removal and putting back on, the space is very limited.

I did it in 4 days, had some issues with the clip popping out 2 times. I wouldnt do it again, esp on the floor with jacks. If there is a reputable shop in your area that you trust, take it there and save yourself the hassle. It was a great learning experience though. Good luck.

Its the same thing as when I did it. You did it right. It looks like it can't go any further to the left by pressing it by hand, but it does with the large amount of pressure by the slave cyl.

I got the slave cylinder on there and pumped the clutch pedal a few times, sure enough its fine and working like it should. Thanks again for the info. This new clutch is much firmer than my old stocker.:)
