Evos With Apexi Power Intake
I replaced my HKS RS Filter with an Apexi POwer Intake. Anyone sucessfully installed that brackets that came with the POwer Intake kit??? I just couldnt figure it out, so I installed it without the brackets. But I want to install the brackets so it will keep my filter in a secured postion.
Anyone can give me pointers? |
you need to take out the stock air-box bracket to make room for the filter....
Also, use that thick black steel from Apexi to hold the intercooler pipe on to the car. The other 2 thin steel is used to support the filter. |
I did it, it was a realy pain, its hard to fit any tools or even your hands under there, it just takes a lot of time and careful working to do it. I got my friend with smaller hands to help me.

Here I found a pic

I wasn't able to use all of the supplied mounting hardware. I used the longer L-shape bar to lift the bottom, and bolted the "twisting" bar to hold the top and secured it to the front hole from the original airbox mounting screw. I didn't install the heat shield, because it appears to be blocking the fresh air from the grill/hood opening.
I borrowed some metric wrenches from my Honda Tech friends. It made installation a lot easier. |
The stock air box is off ever since teh HKS RS was installed. Positioning the intake with a hard MAF pipe makes things worst.
My hands and I doubt any tools can fit in there. The only bracket Iwas able to use is teh one that connects the IC pipe to the body. |
I was able to use all the supplied brackets, you just need to remove the stock air box bracket as previously stated.
There is no air coming in from the hood, only hot air exiting through there. I used the heat shield so that it would do its job and block the hot air from the motor. Turbo cars don't really need a ram air effect like an NA car, the turbo will suck in all the air it needs, and the heat shield will just direct this suction to cooler air. |
Is there much of a difference between the HKS and the Apexi as far as sounds they make?

I see. but does the Apexi one have equal or even better airflow?
|
All the filters flow around the same - it's the filtration that really sets them apart.
|
so do you guys think the Apexi has the best filtering?
