HKS Racing Suction Intake Owners

I just ordered one today, and I was wondering how often everyone changes the filter. Where do you get the replacements, and how much are they?

Also, does anyone know if this intake would work fine if I replaced the foam HKS filter element with a cone filter element, possibly the one from HKS, or the APEX'i Power Flow cone intake? I read someone else posting this idea, and I can't recall if they got any responses in regards to this idea....

Thanks for any help!

There are vendors that sell the replacement filters on here. You can also get them off Ebay as well for cheper if I remember right. As for putting another filter on it, I don't think it would be possible. The filter and intake pipe fits just right and I don't think there would be enough room for a bigger filter. You'll see what I mean when you install it. As for changing it, I've had mine since Jan. and haven't changed it yet. It's getting about that time, but it's still in good shape.

Hope this helps.

So, how long have you been running the APEXi Filter? Did it bolt right up? Have you had any problems with your car stalling, or anything like that?

Thanks...

I know you can purchase the pipe and the APEXi filter seperately here: http://www.boost-solutions.com/

HKS filters are $30 at your local Razo store, or $20 online + shipping. You change it once every 10k miles or so... no big deal.

If you didn't want to run the HKS filter setup, why buy the HKS intake to begin with? Just get the buschur intake pipe or something similar for much less $$$.

Buy the filters in bulk, it's cheaper...I bought 5 to start with for $50.00 shipped!

umm...i wouldnt change them every 10,000 miles. I would change them every 3000 miles. When I'm in NYC, the air is quite polluted so I change my every 3000 miles. In Buffalo, I change them every 5000 miles. HKS raised the price. It's no longer $10 shipped. I got a vendor that can sell them for $16 plus shipping.

Just do a search on "hks filter" on ebay...plenty of filters on there for around $5-6 each... {thumbup}

10k miles is fine, I went 20k in NY winter weather and all is well.

Every 10k, depending on conditions. Live in the dust, change more.

The best part is the replacements come in different colors so you can ditch the yellow filter if ya want.

I orginally pruchased the HKS RS Kit, then figured I didnt want to buy replacement filters so I got a POwer Intake. Everything bolts right up with no idle issues at all.
