Automobile Mag: 100 coolest car of all time!

The EVO didn't make the list .

Saw the mag at the store yesterday. There was a lot of "classic" cars listed. It appeared the voters were older than 40 and very rich.

Mid-60s Corvette Stingray - they showed a big-block convertible for the pic...

I should mentioned who was #1. #2 is my all time fav: Porsched 911. Most of the cars were classic exotics. There were only 2 modern Japanse cars I remembered. #90 something was Subaru Impreza RS , and the Skyline GTR-34 was in the #20's.

that list, in my opinion, was pretty poor. It had a TON of European cars, many of which, also in my opinion weren't cool at all. Anyways, I guess that it is their opinion, but I just disagree.

It's interesting, especially since that same magazine named the Evo "Automobile of the Year" last year. And I quote:

"This makes the Evolution not just our 2004 Automobile of the Year but also very likely the automotive icon of the decade."

WTF? Icon of the decade, but not one of the 100 coolest cars???

come on people! that wasn't a usdm impreza 2.5rs on the list! it was the wrx p1 from 1999. it was a limited production wrx that was built by prodrive to commemorate the cars rally heritage (or something to that effect). and even though the impreza 22b probably wins in the coolness category, the p1 was the BEST performing impreza at the time it was released. it won a shootout by evo magazine with a evo6 makinen i believe.....

know your subarus! they are the reason we have the evo out here today!

When the Sport Compact Car top 100 list came out, I was excited to see that the only two new cars (Evo and 1991 Sentra SE-R) I have ever purchased both made the list. I guess my taste is not as bad as everyone thinks!

Automobile is usually the "weak sister" rehash of CAR Magazine's articles with their own "quirky" (read - lame) spin on things. I only subscribe because it costs me less than $10 for 12 issues. Hard to beat for cr@pper reading...
