confusion on gauges

I have a few ques. regarding gauge setups. I really like the look of the defi gauges but I am not interested in having to buy a link controller for my gauges. I want to have a visual tool but have no interest in datalogging as this is my daily driver and I do not track this car. I like the almost OEM glow of these gauges but they are a little too pricey to me. My main question is: Is it possible to run these gauges without the controller? Is anyone doing it? What are some other cost effective options? Pics would be helpful but not necessary. Thanks!

You have to have the controller to run the Defi Link gauges, the sensors feed into the controller, not the gauge.

I have a good old Autometer Sport Comp vacuum/boost gauge that works just fine for me. It's lacks bling, but the red light matches the instrument cluster nicely.

You can run the Defi guages you just cant run the BF or the Link series. There other serious you can run without the link controller.

if you want gauges without a console (consoles seem to be the rage these days) you have to look for stand alone gauges. greddy, autometer, hks and a few other companies that have offered gauges for forever have these. the benefit of the console is the compactness of the gagues, the size of the gauges and the overall weight of the entire system is reduced, plus everything is simplified wiring wise.

Check the Defi D gauges....there not as pricy as the BF and dont need a controller and they glow the red/orange to match the cluster. There mechanical tho, so i dont know if that matters to you.

Boost is the only mech. gauge in the D series, from what I read on the instructions.

*shrug* I have 2 autometer electrical Cobalt series gauges. They both light up blue like my car. Boost/EGT. They seem to be working ok I guess.

I highly recommend the Defi D-Gauges also. They match the stock dash color almost pefectly, and you don't need a controller to run them.

Vote here for autometer. Tho, on this board, they apparently have huge failure rates and are VERY inaccurate
