Fan Controller Recall

For those who haven't received their letter on the fan controller recall here it is. You may want to get your local dealership to order you one when you bring it in for your next service.

If they do its a crapy dealership, my delaership never harasses me for my mods. I had the ECU reflash and fan controller replaced. Your right about the models. All Lancer models, and outlanders are affected by this recall. The orginal had tendencies to melt, chance of a fire.

I already had the 3 recalls done and they didn't give me a problem about mods or anything, as they shouldn't because this problem isnt caused by mods.

Just the controller that turns the fan on and off. It only takes thirty minutes. It bolts to the fan shroud, and has three plugs on it. You have to take the air box, and turbo hose off to get to it.

There is a module mounted to the fan shroud, just to the left of the turbo, that controls the fan's speed. My understanding is that the module has unreliable internal electrical connections that can fail over time, thus allowing the engine to overheat.
