Harness to Use with Sparco Harness bar?
Harness to Use with Sparco Harness bar?
Whats the best type of harness to use with sparco harness bar? because im gettin the bar..im no expert on harnesses...do i use 4 point harness?
sparco competition..... but those are expensive... try to pick up a set used. takata is even more expensive. if you want cheap... then go like... scrothe. sabelt is the maker of sparco harness products... so you can definitely consider them too... but once again not cheap, try to get used.
that is why buyin' used is cheaper... the homoligation dates are almost expired... but unless you're competing regularly you don't needa worry too much. when you are competing regularly you won't be worryin' about harnesses hahah.
www.rallynuts.com has good prices on a variety of harnesses most of which i've already suggested. btw... don't get momo... they're not meant to be run... safely (just to recommend against one).
what you're looking for is the short tail harness to use with a harness bar. you don't want the eye bolt, or bolt in long tail harness. unless you want to bolt into stock rear belt locations.
if money is not an issue definitely get a new harness, the old ones are heavier and the camlock is a bit more rugged... the new ones are more refined... prettier. and if money really isn't an issue get yourself a takata... those things are awesome, the camlocks are very well finished. btw... don't get anything but a full 3" competition harness. and if money is not an issue once again... get yourself a real racing bucket... one that saves some weight (cf, fiberglass is good too, will save your about 15 pounds per seat, stock adjustables are heavY!)

Actually, there is a reason for the dating: uv and exposure have a dramatic effect on strength of the harnesses over time. If you track your car or are doing them for more than bling, take this serious.
gee, I was under the impression that you should never use a harness unless you have a full roll cage. Reason being that if you happen to flip(god forbid) and you have a harness on, if the roof crushes, your body stays fixed to the seat and only your neck bends. :P
BUT, with a normal seatbelt, your body tends to go to the side saving your neck.
So I'd get the harnesses for show, but not to race with unless you get the full roll cage.
I know there's a metal clip that will keep the lower part of your seatbelt REALLY tight and prevent you from moving around.

That's only if the harness is mounted straight down 90 degrees. If it goes 45 degrees, you have little give that could save your neck.
That's what we discussed before on this topic from a different forum.
But roll cage is a sure way to prevent the roof collapsing. it is neccessary if you use those harnesses.

takata harnesses in my car. (only use them during car shows though and semi-occsionally drive with them on around town during meets) i will not use them on track unless i have a roll bar/cage.

See you could do the rear seatback buckle amount like him, or even do the straight back to the child safety seat anchor.
As long as you don't go straight down to your seat mount.
