Anybody know what a 243 OBD II code is?

I have a 243 code poping up and the scanner did not tell me what the code meant. I know that a 136 os the O2 sensor and a 300 is a misfire (the scanner knew what those codes were) but it did not know the 243. Anyone know?

J1979 specifies that Powertrain OBD-II codes are 4-digits, not 3.

0243 - Turbo/Super Charger Wastegate Solenoid 'A' (as mentioned)
2243 - O2 Sensor Reference Voltage Circuit/Open

and of course

243x - thse are all MAF warnings.

That the solenoid may not be working correctly or its not plugged in good.. Reseat the connector and Reset the ECU and see if the error code comes back before you start getting too concerned.

Oh good point.. I didn't even think that it could have been something else since it was only mentioned with 3 digits..

Hmm, the OBD II scanner that I used at an O'Reileys did not specify the first number. I have used a different scanner at Autozone that did, so I will try to go by and see. I will tell you where the problem has come from, and you might be able to point me in the correct direction (MalibuJack might have an idea). I just rebuilt my engine and got it in the car with everything bolted up and running last Thursday. I have the Total Seal rings with the gapless seconds in it. Well, strike one is that I filled her up with Mobile 1. Strike two was it had to sit and idel while I fixed up the Xede with new parameters for my mods. I sent my ECU to Vishnu to scale for my 680cc injectors and for a guesstimate tune for the headwork until Shiv can get his skinny a$$ down here to give me a proper tune. (those guys went above, beyond, and over for me to get things shipped off and set up correctly in time. I will tell you in time for what in a minute. Needless to say, I am a hard core Vishnu fan and will remain that way.) Anyway, most of the tuning is in the ECU right now so I had to zero out the XEDE exept for boost so that I was not double dipping on the leaning out of the injectors and the timing. The first time I tried to reconfigure the Xede I did not download the changes, which thank God I caught, so I had to redo the Xede again which David from Vishnu sat on the phone and helped me out with at 11:00 P.M. my time while they were hard at work on their shop car. Thanks David. This was strike two as the car was just sitting there ideling with brand new rings. Well, I glazed the cylinders. They were trying to get me set up for a hard core driving trip up around the Ark/Missouri area over the weekend with the Dallas are Porsche club . Total Seal told me to take the first 250 miles easy which I did, and everything should be good after that. But I had already glazed them and I was blowing smoke the entire trip, about 1 quart per 500 miles worth. This promptly gave me a 136, 243, and 300 codes. I think the 136 is due to the O2 being coated with oil, and the 300 is from oil in the chambers as well causeing a missfire. I just do not know what the 243 is exactly. On a good note the car ran perfectly exept for the glazed cylinders and I am going to pull the head and pistons this week and run a 240 grit aluminum oxide dingle berry hone through it and lightly scuff the rings with some scotchbright. (per Keith at Total Seal) This is a bit of work, but not too much. And another new head gasket. Oh well, $50 down the drain. The car did however stay RIGHT on the bumper of a 2002 996tt running 450 HP with
Moton remote resvoir coilovers! The guy was really cool, but a little disappointed that a four door, four cylinder sedan could keep up with his 996tt. He even admitted that he was trying to pull me and could not. And he could drive, he had a trailer hitch on his 996tt to pull his trailer with the racing slicks to Motorsport Ranch on the weekends. Anyway, lesson learned, no Mobile 1 on break in, Keith actually told me to use straight non detergent 30 weight like you buy at Home Depot for lawn mowers for 2000-2500 miles! I think that sealing the pistons and cleaning the O2 sensor will get rid of the 136 and 300 (I never had a 300 before), but I just do not know if it will get rid of the 243 or not.

And yes, it was stupid to take an untested rebuild on a 1500 mile weekend trip, but it sure was a lot of fun! And no, that did not cause the damage, it was smoking within 10 miles of driving it home Thurs evening. Putting in synthetic oil and letting it idel while I screwed with the computer did me in, I will know better next time.
