Angry Evo Info

So check it out guys...
I went to my Mitsubishi dealership today and test drove a '03 OZ Rally. Anyways, while driving it I was asking information about the Evolution and what he had to say was very disheartening. He said that everyone who had a reservation down was going to bid for the Evo. Highest bidder takes the car home. I'm first on the list and no way I'm paying the $45,000 he expects the price to get up to. What's goin on?!

Patience young Skywalker. You don't need to get caught up in the opening rush.

I'd be pissed too... that's nuts that they are even considering this, and as I said, is that even legal?

Yes, it is legal, no, there is nothing you can do about it. MSRP is only 'suggested'. They can raise the price as high as they want, they have to make a profit somehow.

Not what I was talking about. I kinda thought there was a different set of licensing/regulations in auction... Hell, I may be completely off. Wouldn't be the first time.

What are dealers looking for? Money and more of it, if they have a hot product they can sell it at any price they wish.

The local Honda dealership did exactly this when the S2000 first came out.

yeah alot of dealers does taht bidding trick

what you need to do is try to gather info on the buyers and have a meeting shut the dealer down then they wont be able to play ya'll and meanwhile get another 500 buks order the car else where

Ahhh that's BS! Another dealer at the same place said that they would work out a price around MSRP as soon as the ordered them... I can't wait until this is all over ... and I get my EVO -- Yes, I put money down, however, its fully refundable (and that's in writing) and I plan on using that if my plans don't go the way I want them to..

Good. Some places were taking NONrefundable deposits... I still say (just for this VERY reason) that putting a deposit on this particualr car isn't a great idea. I mean, no offense, I hope you get your car, and love it, but, at the same time, we don't really know what this car looks like, we don't have any specs on it, we don't know what the exact MSRP will be, we don't know what colors there will be, and we don't know what the option packages will be. I mean, this is a pretty big investment to be considering utterly blind.

He also said that there would be no test drives allowed for the Evolution's..I suppose it's because of all of the WRX's that crashed during their release? ..And joy rides
