This last weekend we secured the 2004 Open Class Championship in our EVO. The Border Series Championship is a Mexican /U.S. FIA series. Our EVO battled it out all year in their OPEN CLASS, anything goes catagory. The class is made up of a variety of cars from Ferraris, Porsches, BMWs, Corvettes, RX-7s, etc. We took our the ROAD/RACE Engineering EVO down to run the street course series.
I want to personally thank Mike Welch (RRE Master Pimp) for all his hard work and all the guys at the shop who helped us prepare the car. Driving it was a blast and racing it is the most fun you can have with your pants on. I would also like to thank our Pit Crew: Nino, Rick James, Boni, Andrew, Pork Rhines, Devoted and everyone else who contributed. I also want to thank sponsors like: ROAD/RACE ENGINEERING, Greddy, Toyo Tire, AEM, Carbontrix, Stop Tech, Magnus, Enkei, 4G63.com, Magnaflow, and others. I believe this is the first North American Championship for the EVO so it is kind of a milestone. I am honored to have driven the car and to collect another championship.
Here is a link for an MPEG clip of us on the way to 1st place at Tecate.

ok, i just have a question...and i hope you guys answer...cause i email'd vishnu on the same subject on their car and never got a response
...What year EVO are you guys running...and beside's the clutch...what drivetrain modifications are you running in the car?
The reason i am asking is because i really want to know if there is a way to secure reliability with the drivetrain being that right now i am on my 2nd TC.
So, if you don't mind sharing...what have you done to your diff's, TC, Tranny...ETC

First off, I meant to say "first roadracing championship." Solo and Pro Rally has already been done in North America. As for pics of Rick James, I will get pics of all the boys posted soon.
To answer tech questions, we have Front LSD in the car and stock center diff. The clutch in the car has been changed once so I forget which one we put in it. Ask RRE which one is in the car. mike@roadraceengineering.com can answer that for you.

Nice pic. Very nice looking Evo. I'm surprised you guys didn't drop the suspension more. Some of the past RRE setups I've seen have been really low ... any reason for the closer to stock ride-height?
