Just test drove MR(Evo owner)

Well I went to the dealership where I got my evo to get a oil filter for my babe. So I saw this graphite grey MR parking outside =evil grin on my face. I paid for my oil filter then went into the showroom inside I saw a silver MR. The saleman came up to me and started telling me stuffs about the car(most were useless info he doesn't even know what ACD/AYC is and when I was asking about trade-in value he was asking me dose my car come with power leather seat wtf lol). So I was acting like I was very interested , I even let them did a walk-around trade in value estimate on my car. My car only got 4800 miles on it(canyon/track mostly) and I have been having it for about 6 months. Guess what my trade in value is? a whooping 24g! BS! Anyways let's cut the bullcrap down and go straight to the test drive.
The MR's 6 speed tranny felt almost exactly the same as the 5 speed except it's got a 6th gear lol? I was hoping a shorter-shift feel like the STI . The steering ratio is even more precise on this thing, which=more careful steering when enter corner. But due to the car only had 5 miles on it. I didn't abuse it like most test-driver would I kept the car below 4000RPM .Still I felt the car was smoother than the standard evo(03 anyways).I did entered a left turn at 50 mph with NOT BRAKEN IN TIRES. No understeering at all. I guess the front lsd really helps. The suspension, well...I can't say it's softer..let's just say it doesn't bounce as much as the KYB. It's easier to live with but for me I like the 03 better cuz when I drive car that's too comfortable I get sleepy(almost fall asleep in my dad's lexus the other day.) Interrior is not much diff except the small gauges/acd button/Tarmac\gravel\snow on the gauge face/The shiny pedal(it's about the same size as the OEM, not much bigger) hm I think that's about it. I didn't pay much attension to the interrior(if I wanted a car for look I won't get the Evo anyways). Also the damn thing had a mark up of 8k wtf??? The manager was like since you are return customer we can work out a deal on that but still ...that mark up is just insane. Also the saleman told me the 10 years bumper to bumper warranty also apply to the MR. I doubt though. Anyways I have to go now.

shorter shift feel like STI? They're not that short.

That's good news. I paid 2g for my extended warranty. I think I gonna cancel it though since I am gonna start modding my car. Also 8k mark up is common in southern California. I remember when s2k first came out it had a mark up of 10k. LoL. Elise now have a mark up of close to that also. But I will take an elise over Evo don't slap me!

Yes the 10/100K warranty applies and also the 3/36 free scheduled maintenance. The dealer obviously had their head up their **** if they let you test drive the car. Now it has what 15 miles on it instead of 5 -AND they want $8000 over sticker? That was a stupid, stupid move on their part. How many more people are they going to allow to rag on the car before they sell it? They sure won't get $8K+ with test drives on it! Maybe not even sticker... I test drove a '03 before purchasing the MR. There is no need for a dealer to ever allow a test drive of the car, especially without a deposit/"recent" credit check. They are kicking themselves in the nuts and won't even know it until they can't sell the car due to the mileage.

Nah I only drive it for 4.7 miles. I agree on how most dealership won't let you test drive expensive but since I bought my Evo there and I am kind of person won't buy jack until I test drive the car first. If they don't let me test drive it i will just go somewhere else. Plus I was very temped. But the trade-in value/mark ups serious turned me down.

A hater is someone who is jealous of another person's experience or belongings and lashes out with a response that has no validity or meaningful basis. I own an MR already homey. I have been on both sides of the fence as a seller and buyer of a Mitsu product. I would've had him walk away and sold the car to sometone else that did not "need" to drive it before they bought it in order to keep the miles down. I am not a hater of this guy, in fact if the dealer was stupid enough to let him drive it, more power to him. He did nothing wrong. If the dealer continues to allow test drives even to only a few, there is going to still be more miles on the car than most people will consider to be "a new car". This will dramatically reduce the likelyness that they will get over sticker or even sticker for that matter with the excessive "new car miles". I can't speak for everyone, but I would not have purchased that MR due to the test drives if it was a known fact that the car had been driven by people other than a service tech for PDI.

Well, I've driven both now 'cause I own both (yes, I will have to sell my original one once the mods are done to my MR). My Evo 8 is bone stock as is the MR. My impressions are similar to those above. The MR feels a bit more torquy down low and that makes it a little easier to drive and keep rpms lower. The six speed on my MR is "loose". Don't know how else to describe it...it "clunks" in 1st and second gears and the tranny moves back and forth a little when the clutch engages/disengages. I think this must be an incorrectly shimmed tranny or something. Took it to the dealership who stonewalled me and told me this is completely normal "for a cable driven" tranny. My Evo 8 doesn't do this. As for cornering, I haven't noticed too much difference but the ride is definitely a little smoother in the MR. Interior is identical (except for my cool new button and a sunglasses holder just aft of the interior dome light assembly). I think they're pretty similar. The tranny issue is going to have to be worked out, but if they get it tight, I like the six speed a lot except the sixth gear really isn't very tall. I was cruising at 75 and that requires 3000rpm. Need a taller sixth gear.
