Former DSM'er back in the fold with 05 EVO

Picked-up my 05 EVO yesterday and I must say it's nice to be boosting with that 4G63 again. My daily driver is a G35 Coupe, which is comfy and a competent handler, but I missed the character of my old DSMs: 92 and 97 GSX, both setup for ProSolo/SoloII to varying degrees.

A big Hey to all the old DSM crowd and fellow EVO pilots.

Having the EVO now for a year and a 1/2 I thinking of getting a DSM to play with. Welcome and congrats on the new ride.

The G35 is more of a grand tourer, low effort acceleration (read low-RPM torque), but stock v. stock it won't win any races with an EVO.

I see you're from Boston. Are Mr. Reitman and crew still at it in Beantown?

You could certainly make a nice stripped-down racer out of DSM without putting too much money into the initial purchase. I think Road Race Engineering had one down to 2400lbs with over 400whp--yikes!

larcatus, i own a 350z, the race version of your g35c = ) , i'm thinking about trading it in for an evo since i live in michigan and michigan weather sucks.

hows the performance , straight line, cornering, seats, drive-ability of the evo? cuz the g35c and 350z are almost the same

Hmmm, well, my opinion based on driving the EVO for a couple days and test driving a used 2003 with no inhibitions...

Really, two different cars, built for two different purposes. The 350Z and EVO are probably a bit closer in performance, handling, ride, etc. If I lived in Michigan there is no question; I would get an EVO. I can't wait to try the "snow" mode on the ACD!
