Lancer Evolutions made by ralliart?

I've heard/read on many occasions that Lancer Evolutions
are made by Mitsubishi Ralliart ... I mean, does that mean
the JDM/UK Lancer Evolutions are made by Ralliart as well?

How about the upcoming JDM Evo 8?
(I know that the US bound Evo8 is most likely by MMC)

I tried looking for answer from MMC and Ralliart websites...
none of them states clearly who actually makes Evos... and
it seems like Ralliart only makes aftermarket add-on/parts...

Would any knowledgeable forum members please shine
the light.

Thank you,

My understanding is that all Evos start life as Lancer Cedias, more specifically the turbo, all wheel drive variants.

These Cedias are then sent to Ralliart, who tunes them, adding the 4G93, upgrading the brakes, hand weld the chassis, add the ACD/AYC... basically add everything that makes it an EVO. A good stateside example is the SVT team that works on Ford vehicles.

Rumors (and they are just rumors) say that it is possible that the Evo VIII will be a production line vehicle, and that a Ralliart Evolution will be sold in order to combat the STi.

Nope. Ralliart has input and a hand in r&d. But most of the cars are not "made" by Ralliart. At least that is what I was told by someone inside Mitsu Corp. when I asked them. The US, JDM Evo VIII's will be on a "revised" and improved slow assembly line in Japan.

Not to disagree, but, as I said, I thought that it was much the same process that SVT and STi operated with, i.e. hand modification (or possibly slow assembly line) to another model, and the addition of a different body shell. I may very well be wrong, but, just trying to clarify.

It is the same as the info given to me from a person with Mitsu:

Hrm, chased that down a bit today - mmc now has a factory line for the Evo's, especially for the Evo 7. I think the earliest versions were specific to ralliart, but at some point they had to be moved over to a regular factory line for volume reasons, similar to STi.
So as you see all Evo's are on a slowed factory line. There is signicant input from Ralliart though. The improved line for the VIII will include more welds for added rigidity over the Evo VII.

I talked about it some in my post "New Evo VIII info!", check it out.

Okay. I guess I was working off of information from the first Evo VIIs and the previous generations. Thanks.

Sorry.. pulling up an old post... since I really didn't quite
get an answer to this.

So will the USDM Evo (8)'s be made by ralliart instead of ealier
information that it is a mmc model??

If so, how much differences will the USDM vs JDM Evo's have
other than deletion of ayc/acd???
(in term of chassis, suspension and powertrain differences)

Thanks,

i think that guy pretty much summed it up right? the older ones were exclusively ralliart and now they are a production line.

EDIT: sorry for the double post

Yeah, to break it down further:

For Evolutions I-VI: The AWD version of the Turbo Lancer Cedia was hand modified by Ralliart, with chassis stiffening, Brembos, the addition of a different drivetrain, modifications to the ECU and engine itself, seats, body shell, etc.

For Evolutions VII+: a "slow assembly line." In other words, building the car from scratch.

Basically your Evo 8's are going to have many imperfections, and a big % of the car being made by friggen robots.

Funny, because they said that most Evo VIIs were made with the same process... hmmm... How're those imperfections working out for you?
