White Smoke while tracking

Guys, I have searched, and I was wondering if anyone else who tracks/drags notices white smoke when they shift. Not bad, just a little puff. I have heard it was from being lean, which is possible, because the car runs on normal trims, until I go wide open. Any ideas?

My car spits black smoke between full throttle shifts almost every time i shift. If i've been going at it for a while it will throw 3 foot flames

^ me too. Mine isn't as black, it's more like bit of grey tangled with spice of black dusts.

Shoots flames. Better than engine blowing up, i would rather run rich.

If its white you need to check your coolant level, as you may have a bad head gasket. I believe grey, grey/black, is an indication of fuel, so nothing to really worry about there.

I've smoked it all.......

White = water being burned (coolant leak somewhere)
Blue = Oil being burned (oil leaking somewhere, eg. turbo/cylinder-seal worn)
Black = fuel being burned (Running to rich, too much fuel)

Why wouldn't it do it while driving around town? It runs fine, and still feels really strong. If it was the head gasket, wouldn't it do it all the time, even under WOT, not when backing out?

Check your coolant. See if there's oil in there. If there is, then it's most likely a blown headgasket. If you're losing coolant under boost, then it's another sign of a failing headgasket or warped head.
