And to the guy that wrote "how many time you go to the track...". It doesn't matter, even high performance car such as the EVO and other wasn't made so you can race on the streets. Can you?? Yes!!! But did Mitsu make it so powerful so you can race on the street. If you want to race, then take it to the race track. It's that simple. You have money to mod your car but no money to go to the race track. If that is the case, maybe you should have gotten yourself aonther car instead.

i know that most of you arent from CA, so heres the deal
anyone can get their car impounded for street racing. it mostly only happens at "events" or for people that have records. id say if the average cop "thinks" you were racing you are just gonna get a speach and maybe a pretty crappy exhibition ticket. in order to get your car crushed it needs to be deemed a public nusiance. easier to do with newer cars true, but at many of the sun valley races people trailer in cars so we are talking skinnys, slicks, nos ect ect ect.
so far the only car they curshed was to "make a point". car impounded, never picked up, bought at an auction, and donated to the city. it was like an 87 camaro that looked to be worth less than maybe 4 grand.
i think they will be hard pressed to have any car of decent value (street legal or not) crushed.

You said if you street race you should be willing to deal with the consiquences, I was asking about people who get injured or killed by street races, who gives a street racer the right to choose for them??
welp evolute, yes an no. our insurance paid off our car and some of the parts. not all. as far as the medical bills went. no. the end result was that the insurance parties all agreed that it was 60% the other ladies fault and 40% ours. why so high on our part?? welp, dont think that by going with the flow of heavy traffic excuse is gonna save you cause it wont. it was estimated that i was doing 13 miles an hour over the speed limit. that will put me at 48mph instead of the posted 35mph. funny thing is that about 35 yards away is a POSTED 55MPH SIGN!!!!!! hmmm go figure. also the accident was supposed to be handled by the CHP and wasnt. it was done by the local PD and where i work, there is anomosity amongst the officers where i work and the local PD. im just still bitter about the local PD and the way that people are stereotyped.
have i street raced-nope. have i raced the several other cars i have-yup AT THE TRACK not on the street.
we knew that the officer that wrote my report has a grude against the import cars here and was even banned from the police dept. own car show. he likes to harass the import cars-literally. for example, the police dept. held a car show and handed out several awards to the import community. at the end of the show, guess what. he was waiting at the end of the block. pulled you over and wrote you a citation for illegal modifications-IE exhaust, intake, etc. and would tell you that if he sees this car again, he will tow it. the arguement was that the CHIEF OF POLICE just gave him a trophy for his car and is now getting a ticket for having a nice car. the officer said he didnt care. several complaints of hot rodders also recieved tickets from this same officer and it was brought to the city council meeting and to the chief. he was subsequently banned from all other carshows that the PD put on. the next year was a horrible turn out for cars imports and hotrodders alike.
the gun analogy is kind of harsh i think. there are honest gun owners that are very responsible-myself as one of them. a loaded gun will not kill anyone. the person who pulls the trigger behind the loaded gun can kill another person. i personally have several guns and i target shoot in local competitions. i have never hunted either. i believe that it is the irresponsible gun/car owner that will end up hurting someone-like as someone stated earlier in a post about the 16 year olds mommy and daddy are buying these cars for their kids. they dont have enough experience-in most cases-about the power or control of a car. to top it off, they are highly influenced by their peers to race. from school parking lots to the front roads of the school and back from lunch.
either way, im still bitter about the incident two years ago and being stereotyped. as far as street racing goes-DONT DO IT. IT IS NOT WORTH THE HEART ACHE IT WILL CAUSE. do i agree with LAPD? if you were street racing, yes by all means take the car, BUT the report can be manipulated so that it appears you were doing such when infact you werent. like the two cars at the stop light in an earlier post were you were not racing and the other car draws the attention and you get towed.

i had a huge response typed out and this POS windows machine i'm being forced to use for the time being crashed and i lost it.
screw it. do what you want to. me? i'm going to drive my evo proudly everyday knowing that out there somewhere a hateful cop is lurking who is hell-bent on ticketing me just because i drive a car he doesn't like (or can't afford). maybe it won't happen, maybe it will...it's the chance i take.

I don't disagree with this law at all. What I do disagree is that it will create alot of sterotyping over the look of a car. Out in Chicago I always get followed by cops and whatnot because my car appears a certian way. What is disturbing about the article is that a number of people were arrested at a "gathering". Of what context and type of gathering do they speek? Just because you meet up with your car club in the Walmart parking lot does it give the cops a free pass to harrass the crap out of you based on your car?
Sure take the dumbass street racers cars from them, I just see alot of safe, respectable drivers getting affected over this because of a certain look to their car.
