Question Where to tap for UEGO Gauge

I have the Aem Uego and I was told to tap it right at the back of the downpipe, I have the Ultimate racing test pipe so I can't tap there. Is the back of the downpipe gonna suffice?

That's were i put my bung on my car. That area has enough room for the sensor to fit perfectly and the wire runs up on the side of the firewall and into the boot.

I plan on having a bung welded in my DP for the sensor. I think it should work well enough there.

the best and most acurate place is 6 to 8 inch away from the down pipe flange at a 10 to 15 deg incline .. so water from cold starts doesnt wear the sensor out .. that seems to be the most acurate spot..

I just replaced my first O2 sensor with it. I don't know if this is an option for you guys, because I don't know the clearances in the Evo, but it works fine for me, and it's right in the collector so it's about as accurate a reading as you can get I suppose.

On my GSX, I installed mine right after the first bend in the downpipe. The instructions say to install the sensor 12-18" from the turbo.

Closer to the O2 housing is likely better. Assuming you don't have an exhaust leak, putting it in the rear O2 location shouldn't alter the actual readings, but they can be a little "laggy" for idle/tip-in readings since it's so far back. At full boost it doesn't look like a problem at all...exhaust is flowing much faster and there's plenty of it. I am contemplating welding the bung up at the top of the DP for it...just haven't convinced myself it's worth the work

If you are running a converter, the wideband has to go before it.

because I don't know the clearances in the Evo
The AEM UEGO will thread right into the O2 housing on the Evo and clearance is not an issue at all...only problem is you need standalone management to take the stock one out and replace it with the wideband or it won't run very well

Thanks for the replys guys. I guess at the rear of the downpipe at an incline will have to do. I am pretty sure I have read not to put it to close to the turbo or you will burn the sensor out pretty quickly.
