Exclamation Did you sign a waver when you bought your evo ?

Hey, i just talked to a guy who strongly spoke against buying an evo, as mitsubishi makes you sign a waver stating that if something goes wrong with the car mitsubishi isnt responsible.

Now, i've looked around, and I've read the stuff about competing in SCCA stuff, and also any kind of mis-use threads, and no one mentions it.

Anyone know if the guy is being a dick ?, or if mitsu is responsible for the dick-ed-ness ?

Uh, there is no way that Mitsubishi as a company would be making dealerships do this. It has to be, if true, a dealership scam of somesort.

Now, I have heard of cases that when the EVO first came out they had buyers watch a 15 minute video. It talked about the EVO being a high perfromance car and how it needed synthetic oil and more check-ups than regular cars. afterwards they had you sign a paper that you watched the video and understood what you saw.

look man before you buy an EVO you have to realize that you are not buying a Camry and you better have some money in your pocket. Yes mitsu don’t cover warranty (some times they do). the EVO is a great car but Mitsu is pain to deal with.

Mitsu made we watch the video and sign a paper stating I watched it. In the video, all it showed was the car being used for racing, on and off road. What do they expect people to do with the car?

what? what sorta bs is that? made you watch a video?

From what I'm experiencing now, the dealers blame District manager, District manager blame the Mitsubishi Corporate policy and Mitsubishi is blaming the customers.

It's hell. Just don't break anything.

i don't go to mitsu for much at all. Recall stuff and warranty stuff and once my warranty is up, I won't be going back for anything.

I too was asked to watch the video and sign the little paper saying I watched it. I think it was mostly a "you need to understand this is REAL sports car" type of thing. Trying to make people understand that even though its on a 30k car that is handles and performs like a more expensive vehicle and requires the kind of maintainance that sports cars require.

for me no waiver, no video... I did download the Dealer Instruction Video, though, which explains the car to salesmen so they don't pass it of as an ordinary sedan...

I had to do this when I bought my '03 in January of this year. They also used it as a sales pitch for that lame a$$ Pit Pass program or whatever.

So its not common, but it does happen.
How can you buy a car for 30k and then expect to spend another 3k over the corse of a year on basic upkeep ?

what all is entailed in the "dont break anything" message ?

One guy had his shift stick snap when he was shifting into 3rd, twice, but mitsu replaced it both times.
