thermal makes the material stronger, ceramic coating make the material cooler.

One bad thing about ceramic is if you drive through a cold water puddle and splash a hot pipe, the coating will crack all over. I had a set of headers done years ago in pale blue and after about 6 months there were spiderweb looking rust marks bleeding through.

getting things ceramic coated can do that cause it may not bond to the metal correctly if it wasnt acid washed first. thats the risk
