Has anyone had their brakes covered under warranty from Mitsubishi? My brakes are warped and the dealer is giving me the "run around". Most likely I'll have to buy new pads and rotors in the spring but any info would help!
I have 24k miles now and i am getting vibrations under braking. Mostly at higher speeds, but I'm sure the rotors are warped. I don't even want to begin dealing with the dealership, so I just got the WORKS Endless pads and some new brembo slotted rotors from tirerack.com. I'll let you all know how that works out and hopefully with the slotted rotors I won't get damn warpage again. For the most part mitsubishi has given the evo some pretty good quality parts, but there are alot of cheap stuff as well. Ie rotors, clutch, interior, paint.

at 8k miles my rotors got warped and got covered under warranty. 20k miles, the vibrations started again. went to the dealership and they were charging me already. they said that it's my driving that causes the rotors to warp so warranty wont cover it anymore.
rotor doesn't suck, in fact, the oem rotors are very good. The brake pad sucks, it doesn't dissipate heat very well and will result in warpped rotor. I had the same problems at around 10-12k, got the rotor replace under warranty, but installed Ferrdo DS 2500 pads on all four. I'm at 26k right now and have not had any brake problem anymore.
Another cause might be incorrectly torqued wheels, if you change wheels yourself, that might be something to look into.

The brakes are wearable items. I think the brakes are only covers to 12K miles under warranty, its in the manual ... go check it out
After that you are out of luck, you have to pay out of pocket. BTW the Brembo brakes are great and one of the best money can buy, but they are also performance based and wear quickly

What is the correct torque spec for the wheels? I'm assuming it's the same front and back also?
Just trying to get the details.
Thanks!!

Best solution I've found so far:
1.) Make sure your wheels are torqued on.
2.) About every 2k miles when I notice a little shimmy.
a.) Go out to a 'secluded' copless area.
b.) Get up to about 80mph.
c.) Stomp on the binders, and come to about 5 mph, and DON"T stop.
d.) Repeat three times.
3.) Drive for about 15min. to let the rotors cool down.
4.) Have a
The OEM pads are still agressive enough to cut off any pad material that may cause the rotors to feel warped.
Cheers,
jcnel.

As for the rotors themselves, they are not Brembo, they are Mitsubishi and it really doesn't seem like they can take the pressure of the Brembo caliper (and I know the pads suck too). I would like to hear how those Brembo rotors work with the aftermarket pads.
I had problems with the steering wheel shaking under light braking at high speeds. I wanted to try the "high speed stopping" method, but I've been too lazy to find a safe spot to try it. While I was getting some work done (inspection, recall, etc.), I asked them to check the brakes/rotors. They said they were slightly warped, and needed just a slight resurface job. The work was covered under warranty.
I think wear items are warrantied for only 12 months/12000. At the time of fix, I've had my car over 12 months, but I had only 11500 miles on the odometer. Since you're past wear items warranty, I'd try the hard braking method. If that doesn't work, then I'd bite the bullet and pay for resurfacing of the rotors.
