Question Please help - want to import EVO VIII RS from USA to Switzerland

Hello EVO-drivers

I am evaluating an import of an EVO VIII RS from the USA to Switzerland.

But I have several questions that I hope some of you can answer:

- I am looking for a dealer that will sell me a car and bring it to New York harbour.
- I am looking for a good price - is there any discount in the pricing of these cars?
- How much does an EVO VIII RS cost exactly incl. the brake cooling things and a normal high back-wing?
- Are there EVO VIII RS available or is there a wait-list?
- Does the EVO VIII RS have a LEV II sticker under the hood?
- Does the EVO VIII RS have Xenon lights?

Thanks for any help/input

Just out of curiousity... why would u want a USDM Evo if you had a chance to get a euro spec or JDM Evo? You get more from the EDM and JDM Evos than what they offer for the USDM ones.

To answer some of your questions:
- ask some NYC dealers for help on that.
- you should be able to get 03-04 Evo RS for major discounts, unless you get the 05 then, not much discount from MSRP
- Evo RS's would sell for around $28,000 with every option.
- There should be some left.
- I think the stickers should be there. The Evo is an LEV car.
- Evo RS's don't have HIDs, sound deadening, power anything BUT has A/C

are Evos that hard to get in Switzerland? You might do well to talk to an auto importer in your country. Dealing with the red tape can be a major hassle!

good luck!

Why? Get it from Europe or Japan, it's a better car there.

Talking

The reason is quite simple:

- in Switzerland we have left hand drive.
- the UK has right hand drive.
- Japan has right hand drive.
- we are only getting the GSR model here in Switzerland, but I need the car for racing.
- Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the US-EVO VIII RS is exactly the same as everywhere in the world.

Thanks a lot

Good points. I'm sure a NY dealership would take it to Bayonne in NJ where most cars ship out of for a small fee.

I have a 04 USDM RS. Unlike the rest of world RS it has AC, I think that is an option outside the US. Also, it does not have xenons/HIDs, just halogens which drop about 20lbs. off the front end, good place to lose it. If you are importing it, you will want to find one in a city near a port like New York etc., saves on the transport fees, unless you are coming here to purchase it. Also, you don't want anybody to drive it if you can help it, people tend to drive them hard and this can be bad before the 1000mi. break in. I don't think you will be able to get it much below MSRP because you are out of the country, but I may be wrong.

Thanks a lot for all the answers.

Where is the difference between the USDM 05 and the euro spec or JDM EVO? I don't see any?

- ask some NYC dealers for help on that.
Does anyone have any email addresses of these dealers? Can't find any on the net. Not that familiar with US-phone number etc.

There is an importer of US-EVOs here in Switzerland, but he is selling the EVO VIII RS for 48'000USD! So not really an option.

Thanks for any help

Normal EVO VIII GSR sells for 48'000USD here in Switzerland. I am 100% sure, that shipping a car from US to Switzerland doesn't cost 20'000USD?!

Car = 27,500 Shipping 3000 Max.

Jump over to the rgional forums on here and ask the NY-NJ EVO guys they can reccomend a good dealer.

PS- Lots of people are skeptical about over seas sales because of scams so you may have an uphill battle on your hands.

try www.evo-ny.com somone there have good relationship with a dealer in NY area.

btw....do you think your government will put any "import tax" if you ship a car by your own? You better check that too.

wouldn't it be easier to buy an EVO from a mitsubishi dealer in Belgum or Germany? Those countries are left hand drive right?

Check with a registered importer. They would be the best qualified to give you a hand. The main problem that i see would be getting it through customs and having all the proper paper work in order for the US customs and border patrol. They need tons of forms filled out properly and if there is a discrepancy then your new RS will be sitting in a US port somewhere.

Good luck and make sure that you get in touch with an RI!!!
