Seat-belt warning tone...
see, i disagree with the seatbelt law. ive seen and heard of more people in accidents DYING with seatbelts ON. if i want to drive without seatbelts that should be my choice. now if all cars came with 4 point harness, i would happily wear my seatbelt. (well i have 4 points anyway so moot point). until its proven for a scientific fact that not wearing a seatbelt causes u to die in a car, then i will not condone the seatbelt law, sorry. kinda funny that there are less accidents and deaths on the autobon with almost no speed limit, yet we have all kinds of saftey laws and whatnot here and we have MORE deaths then a country with no speed limits and no seatbelt laws(actually im not totally sure that they dont have a seatbelt law, anyone know??)
either way, all im sayign is that u should NOT be forced to wear ur seatbelt, ur buying the car with ur own money, its UR property so u should at least have the option of turning off the noise and lights and all that crap.
no one is arguing the fact that driving is a privledge, but sounds and lights inside ur OWN car should be based on if u want them or not, not wether the maker forces u to wear them.
on my 03, the seatbelt light is on almost 24/7. the only time i ever wear my seatbelt is on long drives over 2 hours. ive been in 5 accidents, 2 wearing seatbelts, 3 not (neither my fault). and each time wearing that ****ing seatbelt, i got whiplash, the other 3 times...? no injuries at all....
just my 2 cents

please don't mess with the wiring or unplug the switch on the seat belt buckle. Your ECU will sense that you're not wearing a seatbelt and screw up the timing on the second generation airbag deployment.
Just wear your seatbelt, you lazy bastards, it's the law, and it'll save your life better than the airbag.

It's funny how people always say ignorant crap like, "kinda funny that there are less accidents and deaths on the autobon with almost no speed limit, yet we have all kinds of saftey laws and whatnot here and we have MORE deaths then a country with no speed limits and no seatbelt laws(actually im not totally sure that they dont have a seatbelt law, anyone know??)"
Since the autobahn is maintained far superior than us highways as well as is about 6 inch thicker asphalt than us highways.
People don't die on autobahn at highspeed because the most cars produced in Germany is built with autobahn in mind and built superior (structurely and safety) than us or japan cars.
there are only about 10% less accidents on Autobahn then us highways.
Seatbelts are there, because it saves your from going through the windshield or hitting the steering wheel to give your a head trauma (airbag for steering wheel) that could instantly kill you.
The laws there because of people like you who thinks otherwise until gets into an accident without a seatbelt and end up sueing the government or the auto manufacturers.
So, you have nothing to blame but for yourself.

u just defeated ur own point really... ur basically saying that we have to wear our seatbelts because the goverment is cheap. our roads are not as well maintained? wtf does this have to do with the issue of wearing a seat belt? wether or not ur required to wear a seatbelt does nothing to save ur life. like i said, ive been in 5 accidents, and have not worn my belt plenty of times. ive gotten whiplash each time ive worn my seatbelt so screw em.
there is no PROOF that wearing a seatbelt saves substanially more lives then not wearing one. like i said, its UR CAR. sure the goverment can make u wear belts because its THIER roads. but on UR car, u should have the option of turning on or off whatever the hell u want to.
the argument here isnt wether we should be wearing seatbelts, its wether he can remove the warning/symbol thing. and on that, no one can argue that it SHOULD be there. sure for some people that are afraid to drive it should be there for them. for the rest of us that know how/arent scared to drive, or have BETTER SEATBELTS (aka me, with 4 points), then u should have the option of turning them off
anywayz, like i said, my 2 cents...

This is a perfect example of the government spending our tax dollars enforcing laws that try to protect ourselves from ourselves. I think it's dumb not to wear a seatbelt and will tell anyone I care about to put one on. However, since it's not proven that not wearing a seatbelt affects anyone but the driver, then an adult should be able to make that decision for themselves. The only time I would agree with a seatbelt law is parents not buckling their children in. That should always be illegal since the children aren't adults yet, and require the best protection available till they can make their own decisions. Anything more is just plain lefty pinko communism and a waste of our tax dollars. However, if a person is under government health care and the taxpayers are footing the bill, not wearing a seatbelt should be grounds for not paying for the injuries.
I am a firm believer in personal rights to any and all degrees that they do not infringe upon anyone else's rights. We can't eliminate stupidity by making it illegal, it's a waste of time and resources.

I thought this thread was supposed to be about how to keep the seatbelt light/seatbelt chime from annoying the driver who chooses not to use the seatbelts. Regardless of the morality of the seatbelt issue, there will always be opposing sides of the fence and arguing about it here will accomplish absolutely nothing. People who like to wear seatbelts will have their opinions as well as those that don't like to be restrained in their cars. The bottom line is that in many states the use of safety belts is mandatory and to not wear one is risking a fine. But essentially that gives us the right to either heed the risk or not. Freedom of choice. Yes, some of us choose not to wear our seatbelts and thus run the risk of fine, injury or caving our skulls in on secondary impact with the asphalt. The person who opened this thread just wanted to know how to get rid of that light/chime and I believe the answer was given. Any morality checks should really be put into another thread.

o.k. here is the deal, i wear my seatbelt whenever driving on the street. i disconnected the wiring harness under the saet that connects to the seatbelt( it works) airbags will deploy if you drive w/ it disconnected because disconnecting it makes the car think the seatbelt is on. the reason i disconnected it is cause the noise is annoying. i do it w/ all my cars before. the times that i usually don't wear seat belt is when moving car around in my parking structure. i have a tandem stall which is one car in front of the other and when moving cars back and forth, i hate the noise telling me to put on my seatbelt even though i'm not goin g more than 5 mph. but I always wear my seatbelt whenever driving on the road, or if even if i am a passenger. i just hate cars telling me that i have too.
