Answer to Evo weight concerns
Answer to Evo weight concerns
Here is the answer I recieved from the source that has proven reliable:
Japanese weights are calculated without spare tire, jack, and sero fuel. The US spec car gained 90 kilos in actual mass, though. The additional weight is at the poles of the US vehicle.
There you have it. The weight is calcualted different. Total weight gained is 90 kilos

Could this all be the beams. What I want to say is because of ACD/AYC but we're not suppose to get it.

We know. The 8 is suppose to be lighter than the 7. And remember we don't have ACD/AYC and 6-speed. Then again the evoVII doesn't have 6-sp either. So maybe it's about right. We traded the ACD/AYC for safty
Well, lately all of the new car models are showing more weight then the previous models they are replacing. I guess, we could get used to the extra pounds that are showing up there after all. Not that I like it, but there it is and nothing can be done about it right now.
The worst part for me is that class that I am in right now doesn't have allowance for the sound insulators to be removed for some strange reason, so it will not be easy to trim that weight down to the 2750, which is currently the lowest allowed!

ps. I guess, I could always go for the EVO 7 instead...

One thing I think we are not taking into consideration is the fact that the fuel tank is bigger in the US Evo. And since in the US we measure the curb weight when the car is full of liquids, you have to realize there is 4 more gallons worth of gas that is built into that curb weight number we are seeing all over this site. Gas isn't light...it could account for 30-40 of the extra weight we are seeing over the JDM car...
though, if I knew how much a gallon of gas weighs, my kernal of info could be more pertinant.
