Anyway, my advice would be to buy the RS and set aside a couple of hundred bucks to sign up for a few BMW CCA car control clinics ("skid schools") and track events. Once you learn how to drive properly (i.e., threshoild brake and brake in a straight line) you'll never miss ABS.

ABS equipped car is cheaper in insurance. BTW, you can find an '04 at a dealership brand new for the same price as a new '05 RS. They are probably trying to get rid of some '04's for cheap :P

If you can manage to get your car to the edge of it's friction circle while trail braking, your inside rear wheel will almost certainly lift. When this happens, non-ABS cars reveal their real superiority over ABS equipped cars because ABS is fooled into thinking that there is no traction and therefore it won't apply braking preassure.
The caveat is that trail braking can only be performed effectively and safely by skilled drivers and even then at low/medium speed corners (unless of course your last name is Schumacher).
At the BMW/CCA schools where I instruct, we never teach trail braking unless we are very confident in the student's ability to not spin the car.

I wouldn't buy an '05 GSR even it was the same price. I personally like how the RS looks and how it's lighter. The only thing I wish it had was a stereo system, but I've heard the sound system Mitsu puts in their Evos is poor so maybe it's just as well that I design the system myself.

I have arleady run 7 track days in my 2-month-old '04 EVO RS. I have never noticed any problem without ABS, and you tend to brake HARD on the racetrack, especially when coming off a long straight into a hard turn.
