Check my plan ... please

didnt get any response when i put this in the newbie area so trying it some other places ..... maybe it is not a newbie enough question...

First i would like to say Hi to everyone... this is a great site lots of info
I used to be a muscle head into only cars older than me (made before 1975)
But decided to check out these new 4bangers i kept hearing about and fell inlove
So got an Evo last year and I sware i will never get rid of it.. just love it
But now it is time to play so here is what i got so far and any and all input would be great

Goal: racing track/dragging 2 maybe three times a month nothing crazy
350+ WHP yet keep it comfortable for every day driving and still be able to smoke
those yuppies with their Euro trash cars in Cherry Creek (Denver)

Location: Denver, CO
grew up in the mountains so been canyon driving for a long time and used to race but nothing official, so yes i am sure i have some more lessons to learn

Ok here it is in order

1. Turbo back exhaust - Custom 3" all mandrel bends, high flow cat, Magnaflow stainless muffler
1B. Turbo Timer - I like the greddy full auto timer but also looking at the HKS type-1 just not sure if having those extra features would be worth the 50 bucks
1C. Buschur high flow air filter kit or might find some other kind i like
1D. Gauges - Boost, Oil temp & pressure / EGT, and eventually fuel pressure

2. TurboXS UTEC - I think the AEM is a bit much on the technical side for me right now so from what i have searched on here and read other places i think this might be the best for me as long as i follow their upgrade style so i can keep it level with their maps... what do you think?

3. Boost controller - hallman evo kit with cockpit control
3B. BOV - Looking at the HKS and BFS Stealth

4. Clutch - ACT HD Street Disk Kit - can be done whenever or as soon as mine goes out lol

5. HKS Cam shafts - 264/264
5B. HKS Cam Gears

6. Fuel system - Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump

7. Turbo upgrade... deal with that when i have all the other stuff done
7B HKS injectors or Denso (not sure about these dont know much about them)

Plus i will probably need to upgrade the I/C and pipes at some point just not sure when or where i will do that and with what stuff

And at some point replace radiator Hoses

Brake pads for sure....

so any help would rock ... hope i did enough home work for you guys

I think you need to post in the evo section, not the base lancer section.

Sounds like you have the same goals as I do.

Do your mods in a safe, slow order. Don't just throw a bunch of parts at it all at once. If something doesn't work, it will be difficult to track the problem down.

Keep your safety and vehicle safety in mind. That being said, you made no mention of engine monitering. A boost gauge is a MUST. EGT, oil pressure, oil temp are optional, but useful for diagnostics and vehicle condition.

A good boost controller is a definate to control your turbo. The stock wastegate and ECU tend to go safely when your now and improved EVO starts spooling waaaaay better than it did. You can go cheap and dependable with Hallman Pro MBC, or spend the bucks for an EBC.

All ehxausts will make power, but you made no mention of the cat or cat-eliminater pipe. Remenber, a CEL is in your futere without the cel fix or spacing out the O2 sensors.

Thats all for now, I gotta think some more.

umm geedMOTO you might want to re-read my post i made mention of an EMS (the UTEC) and the cat (high flow) info but yeah you are right i need to add in the extra gauges that it doesnt come with

so add in Boost, EGT, oil temp, oil pressure, and whatever else i can find that i may want.. might add fuel pressure, ect ect

welcome, sounds like you have a good plan
here is a few suggestions that i have.

get a boost gauge first. this a cheap , but highly important tool for what your goal is.

i would get your buschur high flow air filter at the same time you get your turbo back exhaust. more coming in - better going out.

and i dont think that a twin plate clutch is really necessary for you. especially since you said you will only be going 2 or 3 times a month to the track.

You dont need to worry about the fuel rail. The stocker has worked on cars pushing 500 whp.

Your plan looks OK. Might want to relocated a few upgrades. Don't really need injectors till later if you get a turbo upgrade. Clutch you can do anytime, usually wait till it fails or you get a serious power upgrade. What about suspension and brakes??? I don't see anything. Simple upgrades will work. Look at a set of better pads, brake lines. Think over if you want to go with coilovers or springs.

burningmoney97 - you rock ... i was wondering about the act clutch ... guess that is one i forgot to do a search on the site wow big drop in price and more what i would need
and i will move up the intake...

gofaster87 - thanks for that bit of info... just saved me some $$$$ and i am sure we all know how great that is heh ....

value - thanks for the info on the injectors and i must have forgot to add it in there but I am planning on changing out the pads the stock ones produce MAD CRAZY dust and i think the suspension will be towards the last on my list but I will consider it
