So many intakes to chose from. My concern is that all of the open element filter set ups are just that; open element. The Evo 8 hood vent, which appears to be able to let water in during a rain storm may allow water to wet the open element filters and suck water in. Am I off base here?
The K&N filter appears to have a square flange around the base to prevent hot air from entering. Would this also help with potential water ingestion?
I am considering Buschur for all mod parts because they have an actual "brick and mortor" shop and not just an internet shipping site.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Injen kit since it comes with the upper ic pipe (about $350 shipped).
The filter is located at the corner near the intercooler reservoir and for it to get wet, you'll need a hole at the corner of the hood. So sucking in water through the center vent is not a problem.
Don't expect a huge gain from intake kits though. It's not going to give you 20whp. Drop-in filter is a good option (about $80 shipped).

as long as your using a cotton element, water wont hurt it too bad. as long as you dont submerge it. water on a paper filter will dissintagrate it, but the cotton - like KNF or AEM or INJEN - ones are usually ok
A little pricey, but if you plan on doing other upgrades and modding your Engine management The HKS RS intake kti is great.
The sound of teh turbo and stock BOV are amazing through it, and the fit and finish is next to none.
If I had to do it all over, I would have made the same choice.
Also, Al from Dynoflash was the one who convinced me to get the HKS over just a cone filter. According to him the HKS kit shows far better gains after being tuned .

HKS RS or the new Helix intake. Keep in mind Buschur's new intake as well. Any of the 3 will provide better gains than stock or any cone filter. AS you can see by my sig I still use the stock rubber hose with just a K&N cone filter and I have all this $hit
By the time I get my next custom tune I plan to have either the HKS or Helix only because I want to stay with similar brands.
