So where is has a lot to do with your local dealership.....It also has a lot to do with your Service Manager too.
I wouldn't go as far as Warranty Fraud. The way the system works is you bring your car in for a warranty concern. The tech diagnoses the problem and usually comes up with a solution. Then the service manager makes a judgement call as to if MMNA will cover it. IF he covers it then he runs into the risk of the claim getting rejected so that is why they are so trigger shy when it comes to EVO's. It is true that MMNA sends out the district service rep for EVO claims because they were getting their *** kicked with clutches, blown engines, blown turbos, transmissions, transfer cases etc. in 2003. The first few EVO owners got away with it but when they saw a pattern they immediately took action.

People (Dealerships and their employees) will tell you anything you want to hear to please you but when it comes time to pay they will show their true colors.

Have you ever had to warranty anything on your car? Everything is cool when you are putting money in their pockets but when it comes time for them to pay the bill, lets see what happens.

If and when I ever bring my Evo to the dealer for any service, I am going to watch the guy who is working on my car very closely.

"Why?" you may ask...

If the dealership knows that your warranty is void (MBC, etc.) then what's to stop them from f**king up your car so something breaks, just so they can stick you with a huge repair bill...yes, I'm paranoid...but that's a good thing in today's world...

Now.... my background in racing is motorcycles (roadracing) and i can tell you that a good rider on a bone stock bike can dust a bad rider on a highly modified bike any day. I have never raced cars (road raced) but i would say that the same logic applies.

I know on a bike, you can change tire sizes, shocks, brake lines, ...etc, etc... and
it will improve the bike alot but it wont void the warranty.

I bought my car because i wanted a raw rally car (not a drag racer) to blast up a moutain road every once in a while, drive it to work 5 days a week and
still have a reliable ride.

Not sure why i need a bunch of mods for that.

So what should i have bought??? A Mustang?????
Funk that.

I called my dealership and they said ANYTHING that did not come from the factory voids the warranty. I asked them about tail lights, and they said it would void the entire warranty. I mentioned an Evo MR metal BOV, and they said it would void the warranty, even though it came from the factory, it didn't come on the car from the factory. I think my dealership is trying to scare me, but who knows.. maybe they are just that ****.

I don't think gauges will. Again it depends on the dealer. My dealer here in Albuquerque loved my defi gauges and cf gauge pod. He asked me where I got it and thought it was a good addition to my evo. GARCIA MITSU RULES!!!!

Go with a Vishnu Stg 1 flash set up. I don't think the flash is undetectable and with performance similar to the Xede(piggy back ECU) you should love it(300whp).
