I figured that would rustle some feathers This car we have probably just has some freak problem, Those things happen... My issue is with the service, they diagnosed the problem wrong obvioulsy, They have no idea what it is, and they have "been on the phone with mitsubishi" and have never seen this issue on an Evo ever anywhere...

Oh well, sound like we will be without our new car for a while now...

Quote: Ok, so I'm the girl who drives this Evo RS most of the time. I just got off the phone with the dealership and this is the "story" they want me to believe. They told me that they put the new rear differential on and that the car is continuing to have the same problem. They "believe" it is doing this because it's new and that it will "eventually" stop.

Uh yeah......Sure Spanky, whatever you say.

Needless to say I don't believe a word of what they're spewing because I drove the car for almost 3 weeks without a problem. Told them that too. They want me to come pick up the car because "it isn't doing them any good." I'm just about ready to turn the keys over to them and ask for my money back. And here just a week ago the only thing I was worried about were white spots on the hood.

Thoughts? Ideas? Anyone have any good sarcastic comments I can feed these bozos?
They are full of crap. Please take it to another dealer and tell them that the other guys are obviously incapable or unwilling to diagnose and repair the problem. Your car should be repaired or they ought tom buy it back. Actually, if you take it back for the same problem more than 3 times, I believe the lemon law kicks in....

I don't have their missions statement in my sig for nothing... I have been told straight up they don't like working on these cars and "mitsubishi should have never made this car, it's a street legal race car" I am still waiting for my recall part to come in for the fan motor. It's been ohhhh I'd say 2 months still no call. My car could catch on fire and roll down the road on fire but mitsubishi doesn't give a **** cuase that wouldn't be covered under "warranty" what warranty our cars were void the second we drive them off the lot.

/\ /\ /\ Not wanting to argue with you or nothing, but the problems I read about seem to be the individual dealer's attitude. I had my car serviced under full warranty by a dealer locally even though my car was extremely modified. They were very cooperative and nice to me. The service manager would not even accept a token of my gratitude. He said it was his job. I say, find a better dealership and try to work with the service manager. I had good results from them

Just my $.02

Don't know if its true or not. When my friend bought his 05 GSR from South Coast Mitsu in So Cal, I asked the owner of the dealership whether they will void warranty on lightly modded evo (intake, exhaust, etc...). He said as long as it doesn't show signs of abuse, parts are properly installed and owner follows routine maintenance, their dealership will honor the warranty.

Ask to take a ride in another Evo. Once in the car be sure to say nice and loudly "see...I told you it's not normal...this one doesn't do it". Honestly though it sounds like you are either dealing with a mental midget for a service advisor or the tech has just done a really good job of convincing him there's nothing wrong with the car. Either way I'd take it somewhere else. Good luck.

Maybe it is the ACD? Try and call around and find a dealer which has Evo trained techs. Not all dealers have them, and they may be nonexistent in your area.

I told them my original diagnosis was the center acd, they are keeping the car until they can find the problem... They said the acd was so new that they didnt know how to diagnose it, (Its only new in the US) they are getting mitsu corporate involved at this point. I told the service guy there that they should have been trained on the acd before hand, since they cars are already out. I said he was being reactive and not proactive. He started to get snippy with me at that point... Saying I wasn't being fair. Well Sorry, We spend $28k on a brand new car and you can't figure out whats wrong with it, that makes me snippy... Supposedly the tech who told us it was "normal" was an Evo trained master tech, whatever that means...

And yes, they are paying for a rental, The car is too new for them not too pay for it. Althouth we did pay $28k for a car and we will probably end up driving the Chevy Aveo more than the Evo when we get it back. Talk about night and day, the Aveo feels like driving a marshmellow (Oh, and its white too )

"Best backed cars" lol-?

It sounds like they are backing you. Also, '03 were 100% made overseas, but I'm not sure of the other years and models. Most of these techs have never seen an EVO in a service bay, let alone a trick AWD system.

They are backing us, my original post said the were the best backed because they need it..

If they sell the cars here they need to be trained, period.. The dealership we go to is the largest Evo dealer in the North East, They have seen lots of evo's

When I talked to them yesterday they said they hadn't had time too look at it because their "Evo" tech was put on another rush job, replacing a cluth in another Evo, I had to laugh at that...

Well we got the EVO back last night. The dealership's conclusion is that there was air in the hydralic line for the ACD and this was causing the problem. They bled the line and the problem cleared up. Poor bastards had to eat the cost of a new rear differential though.

Wow! The US dealerships really arent trained for the EVO. Ive actually read over the UK boards with people who had the same problem with the ACD line and air in it. I cant believe the dealership didnt look into that and instead thought "hey lets replace the whole thing". People wonder why Mitsubishi is going out of business.
