Lancer Evolution Noise??

I read in Motor Trend that the lancer evolution ride was lousy because it was too noisy. My question is...how noisy is it...is it noisy to the point where you're deaf??

i've read somewhere that in evo vii, you can't hear the radio above 100mph. don't know about USDM evo 8. heard they added soundproofing . . . i wonder if they softened up the ride as well . . .

Sound insulation is not very good in the Evo (my Evo at least, could be different in the USDM evo 8). You can hear the wind even during normal street driving, much more at speeds around 90-100mph. I don't have a radio so I cannot comment on that issue

But to answer TwiNpnOy84, it is NOT noisy to the point where you're deaf !

Well if you are going 100+ mph, the last thing you would probably be doing is listening to your radio LOL!

I was told that customers may have to watch a video before delivery which essentially warns them they are about to own a street legal race car so they can't ***** about the noise or excessive ride.

I'm sure though that even though I have yet to experience an EVO I have probably owned cars in my life that were louder. Todays expectations of course are much different than they used to be.

Well, considering that my car has about 3 times stiffer springs than the stock one, 3" exhaust (with no cat for the racing only of course), and most of the bushings replaced with either hard plastic or metal, I don't think that will be an issue here!!

who cares? i could only feel the bass in my car, but couldnt hear it when the turbos spooled in my car now. i garantee it will be more quiet than my stealth was. although it wasnt that loud exhaust-wise, the turbos drowned out any music in the interior because one of them is right next to the fire wall. i loved it!!
moral of my story is: who cares, its a evo, not an suv or luxury car.

Well, I can tell you this, at 158 the car is very smooth

And yes, you can hear the radio. The car is very quiet. Of course is completely stock for now.
