i'm 90% sure it's your AC system... there is a hole underneath the wiper pan that allows air to come in and in turn is used to blow air to you.. it's leaking from there...

That sucks! Make sure you dry it well you don't want any rust forming down there.

Had this problem in my 03. The gromet for the wires and crap on the drivers side came lose. Any water on the windshield on the drivers side went directly into the drivers side foot well. Have the dealership fix it under warrenty. AC problems would be on the passenger side.

Check on the wall facing the fender for a large rubber grommet. Get into the footwall and look up.

The other thing is that the 2003 cars had problems with the firewall seams not sealed from the factory. I could see light through one seam on my car!

No new mats yet, but if they smell musty (too cold right now for it to be a problem) I will demand new floor mats and perhaps new carpeting.

If you don't have the dealership fix the leak you will have no proff that the water damage wasn't done by you driving into a ditch or something. Let the dealership do the repair so your carpet/floor mats will be covered if they are damaged.

They need to replace the whole carpet on your car, not just the mats. Then clean your AC system and clean the entire car/ detail it, give you a blow job for your trouble.

If its' factory defect, they should change everything under warranty. If they wont do it for you, bltch and complaint to the district manager and call the 1-888-MITSU2005 and open a file on it.

Make sure you get this taken care of. This should be under warranty.
