Headlights question

If I wanted to swap halogens for hids in my 05 MR, is it a direct plug and play swap, or is rewiring involved?
Cheers,

The car is going to be raced so I would like to save the weight. I am aware that trying to upgrade from halogens to hids is difficult, but how about the other way round? An answer from someone who really knows would be appreciated.
Cheers,

Exactly. Weight removal there can have a much bigger effect, per lb, on the polar moment of inertia than removing weight in the middle of the car. It will probably improve balance as well.
