getting excited about evo8

Since i cant respond to any threads, (i get an error message when i click in the text box) I will post a quick thread here.

AFter putting a deposit down on this car last week. I have been kind of toren between having a car that must "younger" kids have, or much worse try get get their car to look like. That can also be read as shhhhhhh---do i say ricey? IM 32.......

Well my plan is to have an all wheel drive , 4 door sports sedan.
I need the head room, so im skipping the roof, I dont want a rear wing(personal pref.) so i was going to have someone remove the rear wing(prob. the small one).

This will leave me with a stealthy 4 door all wheel drive sports sedan.

Try an audi S4 on for size. 250hp/258tq. $48k
Evo VIII 271hp/273?tq $27-29K
Plus the evo8 is what, 300lbs less, both have awd.

No extra mods needed since I think under rated the engine specs.
So i think a white or silver base evo8, tint the windows .............

AND IM SET...............VERY SET!

I think I fixed the problem you were having.

The Evo VIII is definately the better performer of the two, it just lacks the luxury features. But if you want those, the Evo's not the right car anyhow

Every car has it's group of immature owners... even BMW and Audi. It's really about the car and it's performance in the end.

I agree with everything you said. Another factor that most people don't really think of is the long term cost of ownership and modification will be much less on the EVO. On the Audi you are paying more sales tax, have more expensive parts, and have to pay double when working on the turbo system. It is true though that the Audi is made for a different person, who likely is able to afford the extra expenses with no problem.

I am very excited to have a car that is very similar to my current car (Galant VR-4) but is faster and can handle better.

Im also with you on the White, with some tint.
I was thinking blue, but I haven't seen it and it could look very good or very bad (no in between).
The red is not good in a city of 4 million people. I don't want to draw attention to it, especially in the not so nice areas.
The silver is great, but a lot of people will have it.
Black I think looks best of all when clean, and worst when dirty (which is any moment not spent at the car wash).
Yellow, well see the comment on red.

Thanks KK......it works now.....

Ya not much lux..........but we do get the HID lights...which are very cool.

One other thing i might have an issue with is the seats, i hope they anrnt really small, (because im not).. I remeber hearing that they were made bigger for the us market.

I kind of looked around a bit at after market seats to see if they were all standard sizes or if they have some that are wider-bigger

Until then i just cant wait to see some numbers all the car mags get, and their thoughts on this car.... embaro is Jan. 3rd?

I remember being on the 350z forum when everyone was just waiting for vin's embrago to end,,,,,,,,that was kind of fun.
They were like sharks over there.......feeding frenzies.

But the car didnt work out for me,, just too damn small.
This time im really looking at buying,,, so i hope this starts heating up soon,,,,,,,,real soon

True that. I think the rule would go something like this:

As long as there are not so smart parents with ungodly amounts of disposable income, there will be children driving cars they probably shouldn't be driving. You know something is up when you have a high schooler driving a $50k+ Lexus SUV to school. It's a shame in my opinion.

My Galant VR-4 is an AWD 4G63 Turbo (same engine and drivetrain as Eclipse/Talon/Laser). In 91/92 they sold 3000 in the US. Galant VR-4 was the WRC car until the Lancer EVO debuted.

By not seen, I meant in person. I think the blue might look completly different in person than in a picture. I think that is true of the EVO 7 blue too, though its said to look better in person.

Since I can't put it in the registry here are a couple of pics.

Here is some more of a rallycross including an EVO 4
http://home.earthlink.net/~rrwarren/...2401/pics.html

You can see why I want a white EVO as it will be very similar, except better all around.

If money were no object, I'd get a McLaren F1 LM. because money's no object.

'cause then I could pay for the tires and gas I'd eat up.

Oh, and the speeding tickets.

Failing that, I'd still take the Evo over the Audi, because money is an object
