Modification Plans for Evolution VIII
I'm just curious if anyone that is getting an Evo VIII here in the next few months is planning on modding right away? I made a mod plan here out of boredom, so feel free to do your own or comment on my choices if you want. Obviously, these plans can't be extremely precise since a lot of parts haven't been announced for the E8 yet. Some of these I just put the company I am looking to go with for the mod. If I post a mod that someone has heard something bad about, let me know
Exhaust: HKS Turbo Exhaust
Intake: HKS Super Mega Flow Intake
Boost Controller: Apex-i AVC-R
Coilovers: Tein
Wheels: Volk TE-37
Tires: Pirelli P-Zero
Seats: Sparco Torino
And in the future, I hope to do all of these
Who knows if I'll ever get it all done... but I can dream, can't I?
Turbo: Trust or HKS
Wastegate: HKS
Blow-off Valve: HKS
Intercooler: Trust
Camshafts: JUN High-lift
Clutch: Cusco
Brakes: AP Racing Front 6-pot, Rear 4-pot

ECU: MoTeC
Fuel Pump: Bosch
Fuel Injectors: JUN

My first reply was lost, but to sum it up, I would suggest waiting to see what the US market has to offer for parts. Those parts listed are going to be very expensive. People like RRE are going to also be providing parts, and they probably will cost a lot less, and perform as good or better.
My list is:
All appropriate guages and logger.
Open air filter (not HKS style)
Water or Propane injection system.
New oil cooler and possibly radiator. Might also try electric water pump.
Boost control.
Lightweight driveshaft.
Weight saving via parts purchased or parts removed.
Lightweight bolt kits (I will be offering these once I get my EVO since I haven't had other people to help with R&D).
better brakes (maybe just pads).
Suspension.
That should cover all my immediate goals with the car to attend the driving schools etc, still be in the mid 12's, and be competative in autocross.

I'm planning on going to Skip Barber this summer, and studying driving with a guy in my area that races autox.
Since driving school isn't a physical part, I left it out of that list, but you make a good point.
As I'm sure Mr. T was paid to say at some point, "Don't be a foo, stay in school"

I am thinkin just a boost controller and turbo timer first.
Also gonna wait if the market opens up for new products.
Plus I think it will take a bit for me to get bored with an VIII
there could be more by other companies. some companies have better reputations than others, and those companies could put out new products giving off more power for less money. I'd rather wait until a few months after it gets released to try and find parts for one. It'll just be like the RSX. A few months after its release and look at all the **** you can get for that.
