help needed!

I want to mod my stock evo8 for more whp (target 290-300) but want all the power for fast road driving, i.e. like rallying not drag racing and must be smog-legal in California! I'm new to this and don't know which or how far to take the mods. From reading this web-site I'm thinking of intake, dp, high flow cat and cat-back exhaust, but where do MBC, BOVs and fuel pumps fit into the equation? And if I do the exhaust mods what re-tuning is required?

Any help would be appreciated.

intake and exhaust is a good start

but your first addition should be a boost gauge!

Help still needed!

Thanks for the replies but I could still do with somebody explaining (in words of few syllables) how important MBC, BOVs, fuel-pumps and tuning and/or Reflashing are when combined with the exhaust modifications.
To put it simply, what do you get for your money as you continue to add parts? Are some mods only required if you want to push the power much higher than I want?

Thanks again

tuning is needed more for changing intake and fuel components, you will be fine with stock ecu settings and exhaust

MBC will acheive more whp by eliminating taper caused by stock solenoid wastegate controller and ofcourse letting you run more pounds of boost, and fuel pump will deliver fuel needed because when power is bumped especially by way of boost increase the stock pump is maxxed out and becomes irratic in its delivery of fuel, and an addition of injectors will increase timing enabling more power to be gained through tuning and octane levels, using an air fuel controller would be sufficient for your whp goals/needs
