? I think I was saying you should make sure the clutch is ok until you stick anything in your car.

That 500 miles could be a difference between $1000 + clutch job or free warranty work.

It really depends on the dealership, but I wouldn't take my chances as the most mitsubishi dealerships are horrible when it comes down to working on your tranny.

Trust me, i've went over this plenty and a lot of other members here.

Thanks for all the reponses, to answer some questions:

Yeah I know technically I could get an 05 without the SSL package for near that price but I really do like the SSL package. Ya can't not like those leather Recaro's. They look badass and they feel great. Plus, by personal preference I like sunroofs, and hte 315watt system is nice b/c I love music but Im not one to swap speakers and sound systems.

I wanted a Black or Blue one.

Plokivos, Yes I would definitely wait a lil while before I modded, I was thinking the same thing.

Silvery Eagle, Im in NJ, REALLY far from you lol.

Shimla, there are NO MRs around for some reason and the ones that are have a nice $2000 premium on them. The dealers around here are clowns, and even worse, some people actually pay over MSRP for cars around here, making it hard for us people tryin to get deals!

I WILL look into getting a Brand new 05 though, just because Id like 5 miles on it instead of 500.

Yada Yada, I told the sales manager I really couldnt afford a new one, since he was pressing me b/c they already sold the used. He said he could do the 04 with 500 miles on it for 31 EVEN. I worked with him for like an hour and finally got the price where he would NOT go any lower: $29,800.

This is for a 2004 Black Evo with Leather, Sunroof, and Infinity system. SHOULD I DO IT! My other choices were really used 03s with 10-15k miles on them for $24-25k.

Since I can get the better interest rate on the 04 (5%) compared to used (6.5+%) should I go ahead with it?

I REALLY like the leather, sunroof and the nice sound system and the fact thats its basically new. Do you guys think this is a good deal? Please lemme know. Again, they will NOT go any lower, I was at the dealer for 3 hours budging. I told him Id think about it - but I NEED a car ASAP and I like this one so...but I dont wanna rush into anything so I need some help!

(also, does the 04 EVOs have better synchros?) THANKS!!!!!

Tom
that really isn't bad considerin ur gettin SSL....

shimla's right as well...u could get an 05 with no SSL and get a little more power, and front lsd for roughly the same price ur gonna pay for the 04....

plus u won't be slippin' and slidin' in the leather seats when pitchin' into a corner....

but if ur into the luxury aspect of the car, then go with the 04....

man....in the end as long as you're happy with the car and what you paid for it....who cares how much it costs...either way....it's a sweet car and ur gonna dig drivin it every day....

as for the 500 miles... all 04.5 and 05 EVOs get free maintenance up to 45k miles so you save on $$, and if ur clutch goes out...it should be covered under the powertrain....as long as they don't see signs of abuse....

again....like plokivos says....check with the dealer...if they are cool..then u should be ok.....if not....then...oh well....

btw....i got mine for 31600 (tx and lic included - roughly 28,400 +fees), in case you want more comparisons.... 05 GSR. no SSL.....

good luck...!!

Congrats no matter what you decide. I personally don't like many "luxury" options in such a car as it rides kinda rough (not bad, but you "feel the road") and is pretty noisy. I also don't like that extra little slide you get on the leather (more up and back than side to side for me), even though the seats do hold pretty well. If you could get an 05 with the lower miles for about the same price (without the SSL), that would be my suggestion....but if you're really diggin' the SSL, buy it and enjoy every minute of it.

I got the same car back in august for 29,500 before taxes. SSL package, free maintenance for 45,000 miles. Big diffrence and this is REALLY BIG, is that mine only had 25 miles on it. 500 miles has to raise a big red flag. I say don't do it. Those 500 miles probably means someone abused it for a while.

Well plans have changed YET AGAIN.

I made a trip to Staten Island tonight to Manfredi Mitsubishi, as I was referred by an EVO-NY member. It was a good idea, Billy, the sales manager is an awesome guy and made everything simple.

Right now I am looking at a 2005 Electric Blue Evo GSR with the SSL package for 32,750. They are doing the paperwork tomorow with my credit so if all goes well, Ill be driving it home on Friday! Also, this one has 0 miles, so I'll know no other savage has touched my vehicle!

some good advice... go shop at a couple banks and a credit union for financing... you never know if you could do better.. many dealers will lower the price then build it back into financing later on - a bank has nothing to lose, so they will go as low as they can... if you dealer can't match the APR of a bank that approves you then don't finance through the dealer.

That is a plan as well. Even if I get financing through the dealer, I can always refinance through my moms credit union, my friends just got a 3.9% rate! Could end up saving me thousands!
