Yeah, I'm that way too. Drive 'em once and trade 'em in for a different color that goes faster.

i thought i read somewhere that the 05 MR had a slightly tweaked turbine housing, to allow it to spool faster. i will have to see where that was written in. acutally i remember now. sport compact magazine in their MR vs STI competition, they mentioned that!

There in lies the problem. Those fools don't know anything about what they are writing about.

All that SCC does is pander to a select few vendors/advertisers, and that is about it.

All 05 models come with the same engine and turbo setups.

I agree. I like reading SCC but they make mistakes just like the rest of us. In fact one of their reasons for choosing the GSR over the RS for '05 car of the year was the unavailability of AC. If they were really the Evo gurus they claim to be they would have known AC is standard (and it always has been) on every single RS ever sold in the USDM. They made themselves look a little silly with that comment. Not a huge deal by an y means, but just the same a simple trip to the Mitsu website and 2 minutes of research would have prevented that misinformation.

o i see, the 04's have the previous turbo and now all of the 05's have the "tweaked", lighter internal turbo on every trim. im sorry for the mistake, I thought that was only for the MR's.

It's not lighter, tweaked or anything super new, it's 10.5 on the hotside VS 9.8 which was on the 03 & 04. They actually went back to the same nozzle area size as on Evo 5-6TME (minus the titanium wheel)

You should read this thread, it's educational

Possible. But aren't the first 4 gears almost identical?

I have an 04 RS. the difference in the 04 /05 is that the 05 have a larger turbo nozzle, and a larger wastegate. the faster spool comes from the nozzle. and the more midrange comes from the wastegate, and the added psi 20.5/17.3psi. from 19/16psi.

The best part about this car is that Since I have been able to drive I have always from time to time had the "Wish I had that car" thing. Well NO more. its more like "I wish I had that Mod".
