removing soot off the rear bumper caused by exhaust

This only applies to peope who are running catless. I dont know if I want to get a heat shield because I heard as long as you wipe your bumper often it can still be removed? I plan on getting a cat delete and if the soot can be cleaned then I rather not put on a heatshield. I personally think the silver aluminum and CF heat shield dont look that good at all.

In between car washes I'll use some stoner glass cleaner or windex power in aerosol can, just let it set while it foams up for about 1minute, wipe/rub off soot, repeat until gone. When I wash the car I'll usually take out my claybar. Anyone else have other suggestions, I just can't make myself spend the cash on the heatshields out there, not a big fan of what they look like and my soot goes past the area they cover.

edit: I run the RMR catless btw

I have been running a 3" turbo back w/ Test pipe for a year, you do have to keep it clean all the time, but if you forget about it, it will still come off with bug a tar remover, you just have to re-wax it

i live in wisconsin (cold as hell), i left mine build for like 1 month, i couldn't get it off for the life of me until i used B&T remover,

hope this helps

I'm running catless BR turbo back. I just let the tip stick out past the bumper just a little bit. I have never had to clean soot of the bumper. it will ocassionally get a spec or to on there, but nothing that is real noticable. I've seen what that hot exhaust gases can do the the bumper, so I just let my tip stick out just a hair to keep it from doing that. I'm gonna guess that's not an option on some of yall with the smaller tips welded straight to the canister.

my wing and the rear bumper where the exhaust tip is coming out is black with that gunk that's basically stuck and fused with the paint.

I can't seem to get it out either, unless while I'm washing my car, I'll take a soft towel and rub it off. that works a bit, but not as well.

Is your tip sticking out or underneath?

Mine is sticking out, I think that's why.

Zymol works for my blackened bumper. I usually use it right after I've cleaned the car.

Thumbs up

what you need to use after it's been washed & claybarred is Meguiar's NXT wax. i had soot baked on the back for months (catback system) & it came right out!!!!! about $15 a bottle, but at least your car will be as smooth as 20 yr old tatas...
