Vehicle Immobilizer System?

I was just wondering if the evo had this option? You know the whole chip in the key thing, where if you don't have the correct chip or no chip in your key the car won't start and if you hot-wire it the car will just die. I was wondering about it, but I was under the impression that we had it but I wasn't sure. Let me know thanks.

almost all cars since about the year 2001 have it, my old s-10 had it , my girlfriends 2000 accord has it. it actualy is a federal requirement to make cars more theft resistant. so now, when new cars are stolen, it's either w/ the keys, or they just tow the damn things.

Why,are you thinking about stealing one? Good luck getting it started without the proper keys, unless it has an AEM,then imobilizer is not an issue.

you know, maybe it's just me, but i always read the owners manual. i kinda skip through certain parts like the how to drive parts, but i always read them. it's amazin g to me to see how many people post here questions that could easily be solved by either reading the owners manual, or doing a search. i'm not trying to flame the guy, but even the backspacing on our rims are listed in the manual.

I was pretty sure that our cars did have it. But thanks for being so smart and knowing everything. I was only looking for support. Isn't this site for this whole reason? Some people need a life.

i dont actually know there is any federal requirememnts to make a car less stealable...it seems like a manufacturer incentive, although show me the fed requirememnts!

Sometimes people take the forums to seriously!
