Maintainance??

Quick Question. How much maintainance does a Evo need. How ofter do you have to tkae it to the dealership and what has to be done and what is the cost. Im in a debate between a used Evo or a New Ralliart. Also is any of the maintainance able to be done at home?? Would really appreciate the help. Thanks

oil changes are only recommended every 5k but most of the people that won change it every 2,500 or so. i have the free maintenance, and you would too if you buy new. it covers oil every 5k, tire rotation, and all required services. it does not cover brake pads, or tires, but should cover everything else. sure the car uses synthetic oil, but i can get it at costco for $23 a case (6 quarts) and the filter from mitsu with the washer is $7. at my local dealer. i have 10k on my evo, and have invested very little on maintenance. i bought tires because mine are getting pretty bad, and have done 3 oil changes myself, and had them do 2 ( free) i am sure that w/o the free maintenance that if you went by the dealer book, and had them do everything you could get a high bill every 10k miles or so, but most is just basic stuff, that you should be able to do by yourself. good luck.

ps, although fuel prices seem to be dripping quite a bit, the combo of premium and not the best MPG (especially if your foot is in it) is pretty spendy if you drive much.

Not too worried about gas prices cause i drive a Rx300 as a daily driver which gets me about 16mpg. The oil and filters i can handle I can basically do easy maintance work at home its just the maintenance on the turbo if there is any that will be my issue. I can change oil, transmission fluids, radiator flush, spark plugs and wires all at home. Its the turbo that is going to be scaring me and the maintenance bills. Thanks for the help. I think ill go to my mitsu dealership and ask them to look at the service manual.

You need the transaxle oil change, the Transfer case...I took my Evo to the dealer and they charged me $139.02 for all that. My evo has 30K now. So just be prepared with a little cash for maintenance.

i have seen anywhere from $45-$75 per synthetic oil changes at various dealers. either way, if it isnt included then it isnt worth having them do (financially)

Just go to wal-mart buy some synthetic oil 5quarts for $20 ge the filter either from mitsubishi or go get a Fram or another good brand filter. Go home and do it yourself. You learn to do something new and it gets much easier with experience. Then u can charge your neighbors or friends some money to have their oil changed and u can get some extra mod money.
